That's my thoughts, the only difference is the suspension, they both have the same braking system so that argument is kinda null and void, IMO

Why would anyone buy a 3/4ton vs a 1ton.
Especially in a diesel, for a small price difference you get bigger breaks and a heavier suspension.

Ok here's a good question, I'm sure I have heard this from dot

Ok 9900 lb gvwr truck door sticker

5750 gawf and 6000 gawr truck door sticker

11750 with both axles combined weight

Is it not when weighed at scale, the gvwr or gaw if over either one, that 9901 lbs gvwr or 6001 lbs gawr that your over weight

Also, truck weights 8000 lbs unloaded, 9900 lb gvwr, means 1900 lbs payload total in cab, box, hitch weight correct??

If it is a 1 ton dually maybe. Otherwise no. 3/4 ton to a 1 ton srw only difference is usually an overload leaf or two. Which is why if you add bags to a 3/4 ton IMO your rating is as good as a 1 ton srw.

Unless it's a Ram 2500 4 link. Then it's a little more involved.

For my truck a 16 3500 CC SB SRW Ram and a comparable 2500 there is a pretty decent rated difference.

A 11,700 GVW with potential payload of 4070 lbs vs 10,000 and potential 2380 lbs for the 2500.

There Ram trucks feel like they are sprung soft though. Any weight seems to take away any rake.

You don't get bigger brakes, only a heavier (read stiffer) suspension, that's why people buy 3/4 tons. They're virtually the same truck with a better ride.

You also get lower gear ratios, springs with more capacity ( even if same amount of leafs) , some have 1 inch bigger rotors 3/4 ton to 1 ton difference, different compounds of pads between them,

Lol, even if they did come with the exact same axles, springs and breaks why wouldn't you buy the one with the bigger sticker?

Unless you enjoy the DOT being knuckle deep in yeah?

Any difference in F-450 vs F-550 vs F-650?

You're able to get a lower ratio, most trucks that are bought off the lot will have the same ratio be it 3/4 ton or 1ton, the shally may have bigger ratios, that I don't know, but I'm pretty sure that the pads are the same. If I'm wrong I'd like to know, not trying to start anything.

I think that is correct from what I've read, there might be some exceptions for 5th wheel hitches but I haven't looked into that.

As for the braking comment I made, you guys are right, it's probably no different than a 1 ton. It still had lots of braking power, just noticeably less than not being loaded up. But that's to be expected.

Finally someone else gets it. The parts for everything on the one ton cross reference to the 3/4 ton. Frame are the same too.

I put 1 ton leaf springs on my 3/4 ton. Went from 4 leaf to a 5 leaf, added air bags, slotted rotors, magtec diff cover. Bilstien shocks, And all new wheel bearings.

Don't expect to have a problem with the sleds/sled deck at all. Too bad the door sticker is saying 9200, meanwhile the 1 ton is 9,900....

Rear axle rating is exactly the tire rating. The 1 ton has the 265 tires instead of 245. Basically set the ratings for the tires.

Why stop now, transfer the door sticker lol.

Are you guys saving money buying 3/4 tons? Or what's the deal here?

Dealerships in town here don't even order in 3/4 tons.

Its not worth buying a 3/4 ton. They are more to insure and are not much more to buy.
