The thing that always gets me is they keep the roads to these areas gated, but I have had the opportunity to work within these gated areas and the amount of roads and development is still significant, the only way you would know its a protected area is by the sign on the gate. But I'm not sure much will come out of this research, there is far too much money to be made to stop oil and gas, beside all the activists are too concerned with the oil sands to bother with this. But these areas are basically gated to all access except industrial use.

For example, one of the gates in the area.

Seismic lines aren't the problem it's the West Fraser mill going in there clear cutting huge cut blocks and the roads they build to get back in there. I use to hunt WMU 344 and over the last 10 years its sickening to see how much of what the father-in-law and I used to hunt has now been logged. A good example is off the Polecat road heading north after crossing the Hay River. At one time when passing over the hill tops all you would see was trees for miles and mile. Now crossing those same hill tops you see cut blocks for miles and miles.

Who knows if there will be anything left at all in ten years though the way that snowmobilers are ravaging the terrain! haha. What a joke. These idiots really should come out snowmobiling for a day before spouting off to see how low (zero) impact it actually is.

These people really exaggerate the amount of linear disturbance in these areas. They were off by a factor of 5 or so out at waiprous. And that count all the overgrown ones as well

They do the same thing around here when they start talking about road density affecting Grizzlies. They include roads we haven't been able to access for 20 years in their counts! I've told them more than once to stop looking at the back roads map book, get off their azzes, and go look at what's "really" there.

Lots of seismic lines got shot multiple times back in the day, they probably count that, and when was the last new straight plowed seismic line? They are all diversion mulched now, no lines of sight, and the mulched ones would grow back to 1.2m of brush in 2-3 years. You can't find them if you try

What Lid has said . It has to be at least 20 years since a strait line has been cut .
Everything is avoidance cutting and hella portable.
