How much for the brand new m1000. That was what I was going to do & put all my goodies from my 07 onto a brand new one.

The biggest change and most important one IMO is to change out the exhaust. I run a single speedwerx set-up on my '08 M1000 and love it. The exhaust change makes a huge difference. Then some clutching changes. Some people will say to put the M8 gearin g in it but i still have original gearing in my M1000 and there is no way i'd gear mine down. It pulls really hard and gets 60+mph track speed in a climb.

I personally really like the speedwerx set-up and yes with the M1000 any exhaust that you put on you will have to run a programmer.

I have never used a programmer, what is involved with them are they a pain to set up? Or are they plug and play like the one in my Cummins?

No not plug and play really. They require abit of tuning. I also recommend either a exhaustr temp gauge or air/fuel ratio gauge to get proper set-up. If a person uses a boondocker box i have numbers to put into it that would be a very good starting point. If you go with a powercommander5 you can use the autotune part to help build a map.

If you bought it at T&T you should let Mark set it up for you. He knows what makes them tick. I have an SLP pipe and Y pipe with an MBRP can, an SLP billet air horn and 3° timing advance with a Power Commander V tuner with the Auto tune in My 07 M1000 and I love the way she pulls.

Thanks Pipes Mark is who sold me the sled. I have the Mbrp can on my MachZ an I love the sound of it, but my sons 700 polcat has the slp full exhaust and it also sounds nice and pulls very well for a 700. I was more wondering about the waranty issues and what I can do to it, I guess I should ask Mark.

I would recommend a jaws can over the mbrp. On a dyno the mbrp will lose 5hp over a jaws can or a slp can. You dont make anymore horsepower with a can but you can lose hp due to inproper restriction in the can. My 2 cents.

Talked with Mark at T&T today, he recomended leaveing it factory for about 250 Miles then SLP setup with power commander V tuner and other extras, sounds just like Pipes setup. Can't wait to pick it up the next time I come home the first week of July. Can't wait for next winter. I'll have to catch lots of fish around Saskatoon this summer to keep myself sane. HAHA Does any one know any good lakes around Saskatoon within an hour for an evening fish???? I will have my boat there all summer and more than willing to take someone fishing for an eveing or three!!! Thanks for the input everyone, still have to hear different cans and figure out witch one I like. Jann

Congrats on the m1000!You will love your sled. I would highly recommend the 3"x174" by far the best $ mod you can do. I did my track first left the engine stock and was keeping up to my buddies 195 hp m1000 with a 174"x2.5". Not sure what your riding style is but if you love the powder that's a great way to go!

This may be something in the future, I will play with the 153" for this winter to get use to it, I am riding a 121x2" right now. I bought a 141'' for my son last winter and love it, I have road a few different 141-144'' so I think going to a 153'' will be a great upgrade for this coming winter. But you never know, it will depend on how many trips I can get in to the mountains this winter.

Mine had M8 gearing in it when I bought it and I was very dissappointed with it. Seemed like just a heavier M8. Put stock gearing in it and it's a whole different sled. I love it! Why do guys do that anyway?

I dont have a clue.. If anything i've thought about gearing mine up a hair.

I am not sure either but from what I have read they are trying to fix a clutching problem. On mine I fixed the clutch issues and agree with Glen a little higher gears might help more.
