My son got a new phone on Dec 24.2018 and on christmas day this year he dropped it and the screen cracked. I said no problem because we pay $13. per month for extra coverage incase you drop it, run over it, it gets stolen etc. So yesterday the Source said just to put in a claim online or call it in and a new phone will be shipped free of charge within 48 hours. Today he went online and entered a claim just to find out there is a $300 charge along with your monthy fee's. I called Virgin and the Source and was told nothing they can do. I think it BULL****. IMO another scam to get your money. Nobody explained to us ever about this $300.00 charge. and when I bought a phone last year and cracked it within a week they asked if I bought the extra warranty and I said no they said if I had bought I could get a new phone free.... except the hidden extra fee

That sucks Randy! Another Apple rip off as far as I'm concerned. Have to read the fine print. It used to be $100 I believe and then they put to $300. Friggin joke. The 4 of us buy our phones out right. To apple and 2 android. Far far less issues with the Android's.

What do they call this extra fee?

Considering a new XR or newer is 8-1200 bucks 300 isn’t terrible I don’t suppose, but it should be mentioned to consumers.

I've got a Samsung. And the "deductible" was around 80 bucks I think. I think the insurance is provided by the carrier , which is Telus in my case.

ya i put that one one of my phones a few years back... Started having issues with the phone towards the end of the contract and got the same thing of a $300.. I asked them if they were nutz as the buyout on my phone was less than $100 told them they could shove their warranty.... I got by with the phone for a year after that and just to be a pain in the ass with them i called them every day asking for a new phone for free..
