Picked this one up last July. Post #3515

I'd also written this elsewhere. I'll just copy and paste, and park it here. Kind of comparing it to a Northstar Ranger.

The new Defender Limited has 2200 Miles on it now. One of the guys changed the oil on it a few days ago for the first time. Said the oil filter was kind of a PITA, but the service interval is longer. The only thing that's happened to it is a fuse to the cooling fan was bad almost immediately. Changed it and no more problems. The cab is definitely tighter than a Ranger, and driving it around this morning at around 0 degrees Fahrenheit, the heater was extremely adequate. The interior temperature control may have a problem, it doesn't regulate the temperature very well, and for the most part puts out a LOT of heat in the "heat" mode. Has the capability to put out way more heat than a Ranger ever did, imo. A/C is pretty much adequate. The front end location of the air intake for the Northstar Ranger is about the only advantage for it I can think of. The suspension design of the CanAm seems to allow snow and freezing mud to drop through better than the Ranger, instead of collecting under the rear CV boot. The shield under the CanAm doesn't fill up with sh!t the way a Ranger does, but it does seem to get plenty on the windshield.

It now has over 7500 Miles on it. A lot of cow checking while carrying mineral, and checking fences. The belt was replaced a couple hundred miles ago, and it had a cracked thermostat housing that was changed under warranty, and that's it. Reliability is, imo, close to automotive, and if something is a disappointment or POS I don't sugarcoat, but the Defender has been very good so far. I had my wife stop at the dealer today and put a deposit down to get another one, but it's uncertain when that will be delivered. May be a while. Covid BS.

Good luck on your next one. My dealer said they are allowed only 1 unit per order period right now and they are probably the largest Can Am dealer in southern Alberta. Nothing is getting built right now it seems.

The odometer reading for the Defender pictured above is at ~9800 Miles. Left it at the dealer today for some much needed routine maintenance that we've been too busy to get to, but other than that, no further repairs needed whatsoever.......unless they find something.

I wrote on April 29th that a deposit was made to get another one. It actually got delivered, and we picked it up today.

My grandson digs it. I let him help me drive it on the trailer........or he let me help him. lol.

The seats are formed differently on this one, and the AC blows nice and cold.

I don't have a limited but I bought mine new in 2017 and it has been awesome.
Only thing I've had to replace is the fuel pump. Ran tracks for a winter but I don't recommend them.
