I couldn't imagine leaving someone behind and/or the guilt involved with having someone tell me to leave.

I've been in this situation before as most know, and felt I owed it to his family to bring him out, so we started and then a chopper landed a ways away, as night fall was coming, was tough going to get to that area. Not a fun experience at all and will remember this forever.

Leaving the 3 men behind 10 years ago still haunts me, and I didn't even know them. Definitely one of the hardest parts of that day. Condolences to the family and friends.

we as SAR have had to leave a victim behind due to our safety. just happen 2 days ago as dARKNESS AND THE WORRY OF ANOTHER AVY FROM ABOVE. but we will do everything in our power to bring the victim out. sorry for your loss
