Does anyone know what model Yamaha sled the top and bottom gear and drive chain are from that will fit the M8000? My 17 M8000 has super low kms and that bottom aluminium gear is already toast and was told can swap out for Yamaha components.

The mountain max should be the same. BDX makes a beautiful lightweight steel gear as an option

Is that the long case Mountain Cat or the short standard model?

90 pitch chain is for the short case, 96 for the drop case. The 21/49 gears have a faster ratio than the 19 /50 also.

2021 Mountain Max 165

Top gear 8NS-E769A-00-00
Bottom gear 8NS-G7587-00-00
Chain 8NS-RAM01-00-00

These are different numbers than Lund's and I don't know if the gears are different or the number just updated.

You guys are confusing the guy, his sled is a 17 model and not a 18 model. The longer case was an 18 model and newer only.

Plus i already have inside info on his unit from a PM he sent me, like his ratio and chain.

Just trying to help it wasn't my intention to confuse anyone, FYI the 17 mountain cat used the longer case.

As this 17 M8000 Limited is new to me I never realized the mountain cat and limited chain case is different and lots of guys do the drop and roll on the Limited. Would it be worth while doing a drop and roll and changing to 8 tooth drivers on the Limited? That much of a difference in deep snow? I can get a hold of a good set of 8 tooth drivers and a mountain cat chain case for a reasonable price if needed.

I would not bother doing it unless you plan on going belt drive. A D&R with belt drive is worth the cost of the mod. The D&R only is hardly worth it for the little and i mean little advantage. Been there years ago, if it was so good Polaris and Doo would be on it like fly on chet.

Ok thanks good to know. You probably just save me a big hassle. Looks like quite the job to get done for sure.
