Guess he didnt feel the same. Polaris clutch' s are throw aways....

Yup, it’s 25 years old anyone who says the Polaris clutch is better is purely because they are comfortable tuning it. It does nothing better, in fact less. And has zero adjustability on the fly snd no vibration dampening.

And the entire clutch has to go into the garbage after 500 miles because when you rebuild them they do not last more than 200 miles.

But they get the power to the snow where the TRA didn't do so well. I had my share of TRA's wearing faster than the P-85 too. The fact is both the TRA and P-85 were not designed for todays powerful motors and the manufacturers are realizing it and answering with their new designs.

In all fairness you last owned a Doo when the TRA was at its absolute worst in the 2007-2009 era. This is when TEAM took over manufacturing from Rotax and completely chit the bed. Those were dark days for the TRA.

Today's high horse power motors? Maybe the turbo is high hp.

Other than that they have been the same hp for a long time.....

The TRA will handle around 200hp but more then that, well lets just say there are far better option out there.
Nothing in todays 2strokes makes 200hp.
Congrat to KD for thinking out of the box, i admire that unlike some of the parts replacer using "other's" idea and then calling them selves mod builders......LOL. Wonder what they would do if it wasn't for the creative ideas of the "others". There would be no parts to replace i guess...
I think this puts KD in the mod building category and not a parts replacer...RE&RE BOY on someone else's idea.

BTW, i'm not a big TRA fan but love the thinking behind this.

Hey KD, my truck broke down at the end/beginning March, April so my plans on making the Icefields kind of went sideways. But next season i'll be doing my run to the coast, i'll keep you in mind for sure.

Mmmm less amplitude..... who cares the frequency, just can’t have any energy to it....

Not true, frequency level is just as critical.

I’m currently dealing with a pump that will hit .650 in/sec on startup. Lots of frequency response testing and resonance testing.

My 2011 Doo should have been better? Or our 2012 shop sled we had?

But low amplitude at any frequency is not a worry. I hear you, there’s situations.... everything shows 1X and most show 2X, but were not talking crazy X vs Y Bentley Nevada equipment.... it’s a handlebar set shaking less.... ya know?

Handlebars shaking is one thing, high frequencies that can cause cracks, damage bearings etc.

A chainsaw does not have a high amplitude vibration but a high frequency one, without vibration isolators in the saws bars your hands would go numb.
So that being said, I lowered the amplitude of my tra vibration when I took the ring gear off, but the frequency increased and made the board vibrate enough to make my feet go numb.

I’m just saying both are equally types of vibration are equally important and should be considered.

Kanedog 2015-2019, thanks for the good times S&M!
So, is my new handlebar frequency/amplitude approved? There is less clutch dust than in my 800Etec with a .0045” crank runout! A step in the right direction?
Cool info about amplitude and frequency guys! Thx

Frequency is how often it vibes compared to rotating speed, amplitude is how much distance it travels at that frequency at that rotating speed. Tough to diagnose a piece of equipment that varies RPM as much as a sled. Balancing low speed may just push that amplitude to another frequency at a different speed. It’s plucking voodoo... lol

As I’m trying to explain, it does not matter how well a assembly is balanced, hit a certain frequency, the amplitude will shoot up.

Frequency is extremely important to people who ride motorcycles.

everything has natural resonance frequencies... singing can break glass....our human body doesn't like some frequencies either, a la Tesla...

We are speaking the same lingo Caper11
