I need some insight from two stroke/carb experts. I have a 93 Kitty. It starts OK on choke and will idle and run fine for about 10 minutes after which whenever the throttle is applied it just bogs especially if you just grab full throttle from idle. I've been doing some research and it sounds like there is a host of possibilities but I'm hoping you wise two stroke mechanics might be able to help me narrow down the problem a little faster.

I'm going to start by cleaning the carb, but am open to all suggestions/questions on where I should be focusing my efforts.

I did notice on really odd thing. When I was playing with it yesterday I got to thinking it was the governor. By the way how does that thing physically work? Anyways, I turned the arm on the governor shaft so that it would turn as much as possible before activating the governor. This actually affected the idle which now was so high that the clutch was engaging at idle. It sure revved good though. Then I did the opposite, so that the governor would come on really quickly. Then it wouldn't idle at all. I thought the governor had nothing to do with idle, but....?

I would just pull the carb apart and clean the jets out and anything in there.Use something small like a bread tie or something to clean out all the wholes in jets here is a link. You can see all the parts that come apart.Just have to search it.Have 2 of these and had to do that a million times. Now i put on a fuel fillter as these 2 didnt have any.

The best way to clean carbs is in an ultrasonic bath filled with true carb degunk and not the cheap stuff at Canadian Tire (watch out so strong if u leave it in to long it could eat ur carb), and blowing it out with high pressure air. Usually check ur needle and ur needle jet because if ur needle is scuffed or bent it will not let the right amount of fuel.. Also check needle jets for wear marks as ur needle may no longer sit properly in it...
Let me know what happens...

Thought I should update this. My boys have now outgrown the Kitty cat and in preparation for its sale I dove into the carb to give it a good cleaning and once over per your recommendations. I found the problem, it was the float needle. It was badly worn and allowing the float to come up far too high, which in turn allowed the carb to drown itself in gas after a little bit of use. Replaced the float needle and seat and reset the float height and voila no more bogging. Thanks for the wise advice, and check the classifieds if you want it for your little ones.
