The battery went dead on my quad and after replacing it the display flashes an"E". Does that mean the display needs to be replaced. I heard that Yamaha had a service bulletin out on this covering it till Dec./14. If anyone knows anything about it please reply.

You tried boosting it while the battery was dead, instead of putting a boost on the battery right?

Pretty sure moniter is toast, unless they released something to make hell freeze over.

So if you leave the key on and it dies you can't boost it with another quad ?

You should be able to boost it just fine with another quad as long as you're not a door knob like me and hook up the cables backwards! I'm afraid the big E stands for "Eeek, your POD is toast and costs a fortune to replace." I did this to mine a couple of years ago, and despite what I was told, the dealership said there was no service bulletin or special warranty on this. On the upside, the POD is where your hours and mileage are stored - with no way to reprogram the odo on these things, you just took 4 years off the age of the quad!

You can, but you have to let the dead battery charge up for a bit before trying to start. There is something crazy in the system that hoops the monitor if you attempt to boost a dead battery. It doesn't happen all the time,.. BUT it does happen.

Snitter, I just sent you a PM. I have a buddy that is parting out an 07 Grizz. You'll have to check with a dealership or something to see if the 07 display will work on an 09.

Just wondering if anyone has ever found a fix for the gauges with the flashing “E” problem, or a dealer that won’t rape you to replace it with a new one. 09 Grizzly 550 doing the same thing.

TIA
