Need some advice running a 07 apex s/c going to turn the boost up to 8 or 10 psi. Putting a new camoplst extreme on and I have a shockwave on the secondary, had some trouble this year couldn't get the rpm to stay up at 10800 it would drop to 9300 in the deeper snow . I was told it was the secondary but I diled the shockwave down but I couldn't keep the rpm's to stay at 10800 they would just drop off and then come back up when I got out of the deeper snow. Talked to a guy running a s/c rx1 and this sled pulled hard all day long but with his primary he had all his weight on the heal of the weight and nothing on the tip. He said he was running about 71 grams on his weights and it was working real well for him , he was also running a shockwave set at 43 degrees and holding hir rpm at 10500 to 10800. I need to put a boost gauge and a O2 sensor on to help set the sled up better but this year I had the sled diled in pretty good this year for up in the mountains but I couln't get the clutchs working right. By the way if I turn the boost up to 10 will I be able to run the sled on pump gas or do I need to put race fuel or av gas to raise the octane.

Sorry Barry, I know you posted the same question on my "Visitor Page", I just have not been able to get to it.

I've seen the same sort of issue on mine. I thought it might be my tunnel loading up with snow as the clearance between the front cooler and the paddles on my 2.5" CE track is about 1/8th inch. I've done nothing with my clutches so far except add weight.

I'm going to try adding more preload (twist) to my secondary. I've also go an EPI purple spring on order and a dual angle 46/43 helix. I am slipping my belt every now and then so I need more secondary pre-load anyways. I'm thinking more secondary pre-load will help back shift quicker and help the situation your describing.

I'll let you know how it goes.

shawn hi
did that already I have a purple spring on the secondary and I loaded my shockwave up to 40 degrees. I first started at 46 degrees and took it down to 40 with a purple spring in the secondary and it didn't make a diferance, I even put a new belt on and tryed to cool the clutch area also it helped a little but it still loses the rpm. The guy I met in mcbride said he had all his weight on the heel of the weight, the weight had 2 holes and he would have all the weight in the heal and nothing on the tip of the weight maybe this will help u.

I'd have to either grind weight of the tip of my Daltons or get new weights. This is one of the down sides to the Dalton adjustable, you cannot select where the weight gets added.

I think a dual angle helix will help by providing more sensitivity to track torque on the top end. I'm not sure I'm going to be able to try it out this season....I'm not going to get it for another 2 weeks. I don't know if I'm going to get another ride in.
