What are you folks running on on your turbo vipers for belts? I am still running the stock 8JP, I have been reading that the 8DN is better for the turbo application. I go through a couple or three of the stock 8JP belts a season.

Belt For Turbo Yamaha

Which belt are you folks running and finding is working the best for the higher hp turbo yamaha sleds?
I see that the stock viper belt and sidewinder belt is the 8JP and the Nytro and Apex ran the 8DN. I know that some of you folks switched over to the 8DN on the vipers. Did anyone do this on the sidewinder? Is the 8DN a stronger belt then the 8JP? I know that the 8DN Apex / Nytro belt is less expensive.

Re: Belt For Turbo Yamaha

On my viper I switched to the nytro belt as it rides higher up in the secondary less belt dust and wear . Only have about 1700 km on it 10-12 pound boost

I have a 2014 Boost-it Viper with secondary shimmed to run the 8DN. Slightly cheaper belt too.

My viper is also a 2014 boost it viper 174 X 3". I am destroying a belt every 200mi or less. 8DN or 8JP. Still running the boost it clutching set up. Going to take it in and have the clutching checked for alignment and spec. I am getting tired of being thrown over the bars!!! Lol

did you change the gearing ? 2014 came geared high bc they were converted short track models. What springs, weights, and helix are you running ?

I know that the gearing has been changed, it has the boost it clutching set up. I am not sure exactly what it is. I will have to check it.

My Viper also is a 174 x 3". Its geared super low(don't know what gears). Never blown a belt in the 900 miles I've owned it. I do see a small amount of belt dust I have to clean up after every ride(since the sled is white). Its not terrible though. I do know what its like going over the bars though... I owned an M1100T lol. You must have a clutch/alignment issue?

Re: Belt For Turbo Yamaha

This was designed for the old two stroke triples. Hauck was a big name back then. Not sure how it would handle 4 stroke with boost.
They actually list the magnum roller conversion kit for the apex. It should handle the power.
