My 2013 nytro mtx is heavy! That will not change, but I've got it to a place where I'm quite happy with it. I'll tell you what I've done to the old beast, and my thoughts are. I'll start at the front and work my way back;

First, I put the CR racing front end on it. I think it was 37" wide and 3" forward? I put spherical inserts into my stock fox shocks. These a arms are tough. I hit a tree stump, hard, and sheared a 5/8" heim joint. I was able to pick one up at an automotive supply store and get back on the hill for $26. They improved the handling lots!

Next we have the subframe gusseting. My first subframe bent easy with a rock hit. I picked up a straight, used, subframe and put griztracks subframe kit into it. a much harder hit of the earier mentioned stump, and she is still good. much stronger! a heim joint as the weak spot is ideal; easy and cheap to fix.

I've got an aluminum skid plate on the old girl. I think it came from mountain teck. Very surprised last time out when I rolled her over how much powder coat was scratched off it. Very happy it is there taking the beating. A little bit of a pain to r&r for filter changes...but well worth it.

Got a used set of polaris gripper skis on it. BIG improvement on the fat MT9's! Went with the hardened steel wear bars, no carbide. Still found the steering heavy, but will let out the limiting strap one more hole, and see how that goes.

I've got the rollover valve/tether and kill switch delete, oft? Just deleted the kill switch last time out, if you don't the switch can be opened while rolling the sled, that then opens the rollover valve.

I moved the bars forward with the oft kit. Pretty easy install, i liked it. Probably a minor contributor to handling improvements.

Removed the stock rails, and put on ice age. Noticeably less ski lift.

Ditched the hole digging ascent track, and slid in the arctic cat 2.6" powerclaw. Huge improvement! I'm still learning about skid setup, but this has made such a big difference.

I've got the push turbo 190 or 200 hp kit on it. Install was pretty simple. Has been trouble free for me. I'm a fat bugger, and I've been quite happy with this power.

She is still heavy, and you can tell, but it actually handles and digs pretty darn good now.

Ya they are heavy for sure but I have to say that the reliability is just awesome. Over the last 3 weeks I pulled out a dead poo and a dead doo. My nytro is moded out pretty good too. I like the machine but I may have to go for the sidewinder soon. Haha

Any pictures of these things?

WARNING; anyone posting about their Nytro, it is not a welcomed sled on this forum and be ready to be ridiculed and dismissed. Consider this your only warning.

You will soon find out that Snow&Mud is actually Snow&Doo, lots of touchy feeling's with this crowd and they are very in touch with their feminine side. Now you get why Nytro's don't fit in..... LOL.

I have ran a Nytro since 2010, on boost since NEW, voided warranty. It has been a solid unit, never had any issues but a good time. Nearing 9,000k on it.
Many changes done to it to enhance my riding pleasure. IMO, one of the very best sled i have ever owned and a blast to ride. Perma grin all the way and my very first 4 stroke. Now i'm sold on 4 strokes.

Welcome.........LOL

Here are some pictures of my 2010 build. The sled now has 6 season's of use, so doesn't look new anymore. Its been rolled, dropped, bounced, out on rescues. Pulled dead sleds out, carried stranded passenger's including injured rider's. It has been the go to sled for reliability and to get the job done, also has been the carry everything sled. Its guided and got other out of trouble when they venture were they shouldn't.

Spec's; Boondocker 240hp front mount turbo, Cr-racing 36", 3" forward a-arms, Cr-racing running boards, Cr-racing cooling system and tunnel extension, radiator delete, Cr-racing steering post forward, 174 Ice-age rails, 174x16x2.5 Camo extreme track, Boondocker 40L trail tank, Antigravity battery, Skinz mesh hood and Cool flow venting, Koso O2 gauge, custom gear ratio's and clutching.

Sorry the pics never went up. Will have to figure out why...maybe later will up.

The worst part about running a FS is the constant bashing about the excessive weight, how heavy they are, should be put on a diet, only thing they are good for is a boat anchor, and the poor handling.....oh ya and did I mention how everyone reminds me of their disgusting weight factor? Lol
i pretty much have ignored all the riding guys that I used to go with for this season. Just want to find the very few fs riders that are out there to ride with. I feel like there are going to be a few more out there in 2017/18 so my chances should be increasingly better.

Soooo......a ton of aftermarket parts to make it rideable as well as a subframe bent easily from a rock hit on a sled that's 100 pounds heavier to start with? Yikes....and they slam the new 850 doo......lmao

But the engine is reliable so you can continue to struggle with it for thousands of miles.....sounds fun. My diesel trucks will outlast my Corvettes too but guess which ones are FUN to drive.

PS.....have owned 2 four strokes.......great trail sleds
Not so much of a slam against the OP but just a reminder to Lund......enjoy what you have but if you bash......be prepared to get it back

Like seriously, you bash someone without even knowing them. I have known him for over 25 years and there is no one I would trust more with my life then him. Have you spent time in a war zone or just think of your self as a big man. Lund has spent 10 years of his life in war torn areas so you can sleep at night. So before bashing someone for things you don't like to hear try to get to know them first. He's more of a man then you are.
I'm always amazed on how he is after knowing the things he has seen.

I didn't bash Lund as a person, just how he kinda stirs the pot with his obvious Doo bashing....thanks for his service to our country but that doesn't mean he can't get ribbed back. Enjoy your man crush.

I enjoy researching and wrenching on my toys. The reason i started this thread was to let people know what I did, as I didn't find a lot of info on nytros. There are many reasons I chose to ride a nytro, it works for me. If you are happy with your stock doo, good fro you.

My truck is alos a diesel, but neither of my summer cars are a 'vette. The two cars are very different, a small light underpowered convertable, and a fairly high horsepower all wheel drive. Both cars are fun to drive in their own way. Do what ever makes you happy...I do

If Lund is a douche for jumping on a doo thread and bashing, what does that make you?

Again, no name calling including Douche was ever used on my part. Just some harmless sparring after reading Lunds comments a couple posts prior. Ride what you all like....me I am fortunate enough to have everything I need and almost anything I want. If we can't jab back and forth online with each other without others getting pissy about it then it's not much of an open forum. Enjoy your day and your sled. If this doesn't sit well then I suggest the hurt feelings thread started by Mike....it's pretty awesome.

I have a 14 nytro mtx se 153 converted to 162 x 16 x 2.5 ce track, 180 mpi turbo kit upgraded to 200+. It heavy, but i dont notice it much, the skis rarely touch the snow. Its quiet, reliable, does not stink of 2T smoke, and starts with the key every time. Im the only nytro in my group, in my area for that matter, Its a lonely ride to the top by yourself

I have a turbo apex @ about 290hp and an mpi 190 viper and I get ragged on as to how heavy they are, but look at the wet weights and a 163 Xm is only about 70lbs lighter. If you learn to ride them they are the most reliable sleds with the biggest giggle factor of any sled out there! Ride what makes you giggle and have fun!

Reading/watching vids about yami sleds always makes me want one lol. Looks like a blast but being a smaller guy I don't think I'd be able to ride one very well

Oh my nitro sux the big one when stuck, so I try super hard to not go there. But if u can ride a big machine its super fun !!! ... there is absolutely no doubt that it requires far mor rider imput then newer 2strokes. I couldnt afford a new sled for last season so $7500 for a fully modded nitro made sense as I came off a rt1000. Even getting unstuck she takes more to pop up and on the snow. Taking of from a stand still in deep pow I have tk spool up with far more throttle that 2strokes, but that means I get to spray them ...
