YEP that 850 is an "ALSO RAN", almost make's me want to fall asleep watching. Bet that dude will never experience a permagrin. Good thing that climb wasn't bigger.

These videos keep me thinking Yamaha will be my 2018 sled. Any deeper or longer of a pull and someone would be doing a trail cheat to make it.

He XMRider, that video was great and all but you never answered the question about what was done to the sidewinder. Sure looked and sounded suspiciously tuned, I'm guessing he was pushing 240hp plus. I've never seen a stock salamander out do an 850 let alone whoop ones ass like that. If your gonna post videos that attempt to discredit other manufacturers and their products at least have the decency to give the whole story.

Hey I don't do the brand bashing I like skidoo and sold my 14xm recently and have been hesitant on a new sled for 2018. As for the videos like my post says it's videos I "found" meaning I have no idea who's riding and what's been done to either sled. Common sense tells you that it's got an exhaust and intake which leads to normally a tune. And a straight shot up a hill at elevation is also common sense who would win stock or tuned. So before you take this and derail it maybe read. I looking for comparisons and haven't bashed a single brand ever on here. I have rode 12-13 pros went with skidoo in 14 and took this last year off sledless waiting for something new and exciting.

Man, I wish they'd come up with this 4 years ago when I was feebly attempting to ride a boosted Nytro. I'd have been all over it. Just retired, and just bought a skid steer so I can get out of my frickin' yard, so there probably won't be one in my future. Just have to drool over someone else's I guess.

Trust me, my sidewinder wastes the 850 and i have only a straightpipe, its not even close but haters will hate.....I will even go so far to say that even a g4 with a turbo wont keep up but it will be close, I have not gone up against one yet but I will first chance I get.

Catman10 what have you done to your sled other then pipe, any handling changes? I was in at the dealership this weekend sitting on their 2017 model going over pricing with salesman and getting snowcheck information colours ect...... it looks like for me to get the blue I want I'll have to get the 153 MT-X LE and then do a swap to 162/174 afterwards. Cannot stand the red.

Any one who thinks a 2 stroke can run with a 4 stroke on boost hasn't been in the sport very long or is in denial. There is no comparison.
That video i would be willing to say that the SW has only a pipe and fresh air intake, nothing more, the sled is new on the market and power up kits are just coming out.

They have the blue in a 162. Not true Yamaha blue all over but closest you can get. I agree the red is not my favourite either. Best bang for your buck is a black 153 if your going 174.

Ya I didn't like the grey/blue colours aswell. And the MT-X doesn't get the Fox QS3's or the QSL in the rear skid. And you get a 2.6 vs 3.0 track but if I were changing it then that part isn't worth anything. Dealer also said he would buy my stock track/rails and give me a break on the swap. Haven't decided on the route I'm going. Still looking at a pro axys with mtntk turbo kit also. My 2 options right now.

This is the exact same comparison I'm going through right now too! Though I'm comparing '17s to try and save a few bucks

I love my blue and am very glad to have the 17 for many reasons that I already stated on other posts. For handling I have messed around with a coupler block and got rid of the air shock and tried a cheap coilover, it worked ok but I figure my coupler block has to be moved forward to get the proper advantage. For my 174 I just bought a used racers edge setup that I will be mounting on my ice age rails. I think its gonna be awesome once I set up the shock properly, I will be posting pics of my build shortly but its not quite finished yet. If you are a serious tree banger the axy with the mtntk is very good once you change the track out, they are junk. For any other kinda riding the yammie rules hands down, the steering post is the hardest part to get used to which I am still working on, if you see me on the hill you are welcome to throw a leg over but you have to promise to bring it back!

Lol you think 120 to 130hp at elevation will keep up to 200hp on a strait climb lol

Well I'll have quite the report to type on here near the end of march!! A group of 5 of us are testing sleds over 3 full days of riding. Sleds tested will be
Doo - 2017 165" Rental
Axys - 2017 163" Rental
Axys - 2017 174" Rental
Cat - 2017 162" Demo
Sidewinder - 2018 162" Demo

I'll personally be spending 1 full day on each sled for direct comparisons. Best part is everyone going is focused on a different sled so it will be interesting to see how many minds are changed or stay the same at the end of the trip.

Revelstoke Will be the area forgot to mention.

Hmmm..... not sure which Yamaha Rep your able to Ride the NEW sidewinder with other sleds and do comparison????? I highly doubt you will be riding them same place same time???? So it won't be head to head, same day, same snow etc. However you will learn which sled you like the best.

There is 3 - 2018 to ride with the man JM....

I will be on the 18 coming up soon... I look forward to it.
