Installing MPI kit and gunna hope for the best as Yamaha will not cover rod update. Wondering if all kits are causing failures ? I do have koso x2 boost/afr gauge to monitor. Any suggestions as to set points for boost and afr to try and keep a guy in somewhat in safe ranges. Thanks

If it was me, i wouldn't bother. The rods are a lot weaker on the 16's. There is no one boost set up that will save your rods. Boost is boost.
The only way to prolong bending the rod's is to use a low boost set up. No more then 190 kit, what ever kit you choose.

Take it this way, was having a few beer's with riding buddies last year and got a weird idea, took a rod sitting on my bench from a 16 that failed early last year. Using a 16oz ball peen hammer, whacked it on the side of the rod and it bent. I did the same with a 14 rod i had kicking around and it never harmed it.
If it has the cheapo rods, i would just leave it alone.

If it is the engine with the lighter rods yamaha wouldn't even put the 190 kit on it so if you are going to put the 190 kit on spend the extra and put rods. JMO

Thanks guys. After much consideration I decided to put the MPI kit on. A little bit of tweaking and got the boost down to 5psi.
