Found this on another site. Not much new for the mountain segment other than a new front end for the Viper.
2016 Snowmobile Release
Any other info on the changes announced by Yamaha for 2016?

Yamaha never releases weights on their websites for anything.
Will have to wait until an independent weighs one.

New front end supposed to be 3 lbs lighter.. Different shocks in skid maybe couple pounds? Not much different in weight from the 15 hope the new front end works better

So I have heard a couple people grumble that the fit/finish after a season of riding isn't as good as Yamaha's other sleds and the "Catness" kinda is showing through. Not my words. Is there any truth to this from those that own them?

There is nothing to make better, our vipers hAve 1200 k each and have been perfect, and both are boosted also. Awesome sled..

WOW a 3" lug track....that's exciting. Guess now i have to ditch my modified Nytro that i had to pretty much REDO from the ground up for one of them....NOT...how about ditching the radiator for starter's and then you can say your serious about building mountain sleds YAMAHA, you disappoint.
If i'm going to spend the coin on a Viper then spend more coin on making the proper mods for mountain's....ie. like i did on my Nytro haha. I'ed assume going back to A/C. At least their 4stroke mountain sled can be said to be a mountain specific sled and not a glorified trail sled.

Maybe there is hope next year, i won't be putting my money on one of them, too bad cause i love Yamaha product generally but some one over there is REALLY misreading mountain specific rider's and i know they can do better.
Though i've seen what they did to their SxS and holy mother...WTH

Im so excited for the new Front end. Been looking for something a tad narrower and with the Skinz option over $1800 that wasn't going to happen for me. Nice thing about the new front end it will be OEM, reasonable, well tested and available. Combined with the quite remarkable Ice Age ProMotion that I have on one sled, I can comfortably say it will roll over as easy as any current 2 stroke. With the US currency the sled went up slightly. And with that we get 3" track, all new front end, Float Xshock package at all 4 corners, $200 in Storage bags, an all new ski, lightweight drilled rotor and get this...........heated seat. I'm pretty excited. Bolt on some solid boost and the Chassis is done.

I figured you would have been one of the testers for that new front end?
