Belt deflection

If I adjust my belt deflection on my 18 162 to 0.5mm under to 1.5mm over like the manual says it wears belts out like in the pic. Does anybody else have to run the belts lower in secondary? I have been using 8JP belts. I usually have to run the belt about 1.5-2mm below the edge of secondary. I’ve fought belt blowing since day 1 with this sled. Aligned with Hurricane tool, hi torque sec rollers, sent primary for balancing, broke primary spring, constantly go through primary roller bushings. Changing setup this year to Silver Org Silver primary spring, have QAY 70’s, Yamaha 35/39 helix, and Dalton orange spring at 1-6.

I am guessing this is on a sidewinder, some folks have gone to the 8DN belt. They are supposedly a bit longer. The apex’s and Nytros ran them. My buddy had a sidewinder that was eating belts and he ended up taking it to Central sled in Wetaskiwin. He did not seem to have problems after that. I believe that Lund has lots of clutching info on this forum for sidewinders.

Thanks, ya I have chatted with a few guys on here and also filtered through all the posts about guys clutching setups. Also had my sled up in Wetaskawin to check alignment and try and figure it out. Ill try the 8DN next, and also have a completely new primary off an Apex I can try. I had achilles surgery in August so will be late to the game this year, and will be taking it easy. I will be bringing my temp gun, and all clutching parts with me when I ride to try and get this figured out. The frustrating thing is I have always hit the rpm, sled shifts good and works well, but the bushings in the primary rollers keep wearing out, then slide out and bind the roller, which if not caught fast enough wears into the weight. The belt wear on the inside has to be just a deflection setting, but I find it odd I have to run the belt deep in the secondary to prevent that. Belt in the pic on my post has 300km on it.

Thunder products and OSP (One Stop Performance) make a secondary belt deflection / removal tool. Not sure how well they work. Seem simple and always nice to be able to remove those Yamaha belts easier. Maybe someone on the site has or is running one

Also a Canadian company, Turbo Dynamics makes one. Some folks also used to run the shockwave secondary helix. My 14 turbo viper is also a belt eater and I am tired of going over the handle bars and looking at my headlight. So I as well am looking into options to remedy this problem. Seems like quite a few sleds are running bigger power and having less belt issues.
