The 1049 Genesis used in the Nytro is now in Yamaha's new Viper, out of curiosity has Yamaha addressed the NOISEY PTO that has plagues the Nytro since day one??????

Any idea, or thought's, does anyone know?

Not noisy yet. We change out the stub shaft bearing in the Nytros, and it makes a huge difference.

You can also take the PTO out and use Green Loctite for slip fit joints. It takes the play out and silences it. Seems to last forever as I have not had to redo it for a few years.

Great idea, thats why they are so noisey, its the splined stub connection. I'm going to do that...loctite it.

Bearing is SKF Explorer 6307-2RS1/C3.
A slide hammer and a press are needed to change the bearing.
Thank you, while i'm in there going to change out these bearing's

Finally good info from this forum, much appreciated.

it sounds like there are loose parts in the clutch, it rattles...my sled and my brothers sled are consecutive serial #'s, same year, and his it way noisier than mine, mine has twice the mileage

you need to pull off the clutch, and there are four bolts holding the stub shaft in place, remove it and replace the bearing

Hmm. Wonder if I should just change it out. Is this a better bearing?

Now that you say clutch sounds noisy. I seem to recall noise from clutch. First new sled so I thought it was normal. My clutch is off right now. Wonder if I can hear anything with it off. Will have to try

I wouldn't run it without a clutch.

I take it to do both loctite plus change that bearing for best result?

just remember if you ever have to work on it in the future and it is loctited you will have a bad time getting it apart, very difficult to heat to get the loctite to release
