If anyone that has the viper mcx side panel vent. I sent a template to Tom at https://xtremeairvents.com/.
I figured the window screen they had on there I would have a hole in it right away. His are perforated aluminum with prefilter on it. I know it would of been easy to make something, but I’m trying to support fellow sledding businesses. I will post pictures when I have it.

TurBlue you should get rid of that Ugly warning sticker would look a lot better JMO ! Awesome budget build should be lots of fun with out breaking the Bank .

Trying some summit skis. The xtx skis so narrow. Had polaris grippers on the sidewinder figured try Doo. Bit more Fawkin around but fit.

Was interested in grippers on my SW do you have any info , parts list you could pass on .... and how did you like them

Well the gripper pretty much bolt right on. I used the Polaris rubber damper and bolt. So if you can find a set with the bolts and dampener you should be set.

these Doo skis I had to grind a bit of plastic out to make the yammie rubber fit. Also know one of the insert out and put it outside in. Then use a flat washer in between the ski and spindle. They definitely fit tighter but should work.

Interested in how you feel about the differences you feel between the Viper and the SW ?

well unfortunately I have yet to ride a viper. :( ... snow conditions and these COVID restrictions are putting a damper on it.

I will do a ride report and compare to the sidewinder when I do but my initial thoughts are as follows...

The chassis is essentially the same, the motor placement is different so the balance point will probably be different...but not that different. I drove it a bit on the flat and it feels very similar. I think the bigger point will be how it runs. As long as the mcx turbo kit runs well that will be the biggest difference.

Hard to beat how the sidewinder runs. That thing flat out works. I would of bought another sidewinder but from a financial perspective and with covid not knowing how much riding I’ll get in just make more sense to go this route.

The side panel I absolutely hate tho. Lol. Whoever decided at cat that this was a good design should probably be fired. Lol.

I had a 2020 alpha with rail and bogging issues...I didn’t think I should have to Fawk around with a brand new sled so bye bye. So the new mountain max wasn’t very appealing to me. Being a big Yamaha fan I ended up here

I have to agree with you on the hood and side panels on these units, totally a bigger to work with. Just changed my 15 viper from a MPI 180 kit to a boost it 240 HO. Build fought me every step of the way but just completed today.

Finally got to ride the viper. It works great....ran crisp and clean. Push button start worked flawlessly...handled great. Snow conditions weren’t great but got a good feel for it. Very similar to the sidewinder. I would say the sidewinder pulled harder but this was very close.

Tom at Xtreme air vent made me a great replacement for the one that comes with the mcx kit. Wasn’t liking the window screen.

Question for guys who ran a 190 mcx kit. What boost pressure should I be seeing at elevation? I was riding around 6500’ and seeing 8-9psi. I think the controller adjusts to elevation to maintain 190hp at different baro pressure .

8lbs is 191hp. 9lbs is 198hp.
Your set up is doing what its suppose to do, working good.

Snow conditions weren’t great but I did get a good feel for it over a couple days. It feels very familiar to the sidewinder. It’s very responsive to your body movements.

Handling
I installed a zbroz center spring on the Center skid shock. The front end felt light(with respect to a 4stroke) and easy to maneuver. Under hard acceleration the rear skid would squat and the skis lift slightly. I haven’t installed the kiss coupler yet so maybe that is what’s needed. Probably just go with a qsl shock. I need to go to max pressure on the rear fox float and have a look where the limiter strap is. I have skidoo summit skis on and really like how they feel. Honestly I would have to say it doesn’t feel much different then the sidewinder. I guess if a guy had them side by side it would be easier to feel the differences.


Power

The mcx 190 kit felt really good. Bottom end was responsive. I would say it felt like the sidewinder, but the sidewinder probably had a bit more top end .... I need to make sure the clutching is doing what it’s supposed to.

I want to try a 47 helix and white spring. It didn’t appear to be fully shifting out but I didn’t completely confirm that.

Yes yes I would, I thing the turbo kit would be a make or break it on the sled. from mcx .... I did this mostly from a financial standpoint. Couldn’t justify a 20g sled sitting and not getting used much this year.

Is the sidewinder better then the viper. Yeah it is....but not by a lot.

must haves.

good turbo kit, zbroz center spring, 36” front end

oh yeah did I mention the plastics are the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen on a sled.
