Did the first oil change in my 18 SW last week. I let the motor and oil tank drain over night and filled the next day. It took 3.6L to get it to read in between the min-max line once warm. The service manual says 2.8L. Checked a few times since and does not appear to be over full. Does this seem normal?
Also had to roll it out a few times on the weekend, and have a lot of oil in the air box and on the engine below the throttle bodies. Is there anything in particular to check? Overall very happy with this thing. Found a boost leak in the factory charge tube during oil change so replaced with new, and now clutching is more consistent, and better power. Probably had a leak from day one and just didn’t know.

I just had my first ride on my 17 king cat,and its the same thing, slobbering oil all over from the air cleaner. I havent figured out why just yet but its certainly making a heck of a mess

3.5 litres sounds right. When was last time you cleaned out the ROV? Its a maintenance item and needs regular cleaning.

Just cleaned rov last night for first time. Will stay on that from now on. Also machining 2.5mm off secondary as I can’t get it into alignment based on Yamaha’s numbers. Exploded a belt a few days ago. First belt I’ve ever had fall apart in 30yrs riding. Lol
