Pretty limited in the mountain models compared to last year ...basically one choice le 162. Guess the sales didn’t justify the 153 and color options. Also looks like only snow check for the mtx model? To bad such a great sled.

Im curious if this is just the snow check options that they have released right now. Then come fall they will have a wider range of choices like they did in 2018.

Or this is their last year with the Cat chassis and have something brand new to roll out next year so wanting to make sure they can clean house of all old stock before that happens.

For a guy looking to get a new ride for next winter I don't see enough changes to snow check a new 19 over trying to find a held over 2018. However the blue and yellow is quite appealing. A guy might be able to save a couple thousand bucks on an 18. More $$$$$ for them go fast upgrades.

Guess this explains the change.

YAMAHA GOES ‘HEADS UP’ FOR 2019 WITH RELEASE OF SIDEWINDER SRX LE

Return of SRX, 5 LE Spring-Only Models, And Electric Start Snoscoot Highlight Enhanced 2019 Line-Up

March 6, 2018 – Yamaha has rocketed off the line into 2019 with the release of the all-new Sidewinder SRX LE, a snowmobile engineered for top speed fanatics who want the fastest production snowmobile ever built.

The SRX incorporates Yamaha’spotent Genesis 998 Turbo four-stroke motor into a lowered chassis, Camso Ripsaw 1 track with 1” lug and handlebar adjusted electronic Fox IQS suspension. SRX owners will exude confidence knowing their snowmobile is primed for heads up competition. To see the SRX in action, click here.

The SRX is one of 5 Yamaha Limited Edition (LE) models for 2019, others include Sidewinders in L-TX, X-TX, B-TX and M-TX variations. LEmodels incorporate upgraded features and graphics and are only available with a deposit during the Spring Power Surge sales program from March 6 – April 16, 2018.Further information on all 5 LE models, with their upgraded suspension, unique track options and additional accessories, can be found on Yamaha’s US and Canadian2019 Snowmobile Launch Pages.

The Snoscoot returns for 2019 with the addition of standard electric start, a flashy, new Orange colour scheme and more accessories than ever before. The Snoscoot was an instant fan favorite after its debut last year and these enhancements are sure to keep the Snoscoot in high demand.

What’s new at Yamaha is exciting, but what is notreturning is big news too.
2019 sees a number of units removed from the Yamaha line to address an inventory imbalance in the market place.

Yamaha Snowmobiles North American Team Leader Peter Smallman-Tew explains, “We want our dealers to have long-term, stable profitability. We can’t control snow, but we can ensure they are sellingprofitable, current model year snowmobiles. Right now, dealers have too many carry over models, so we need to correct that. One way to do this – an approach we and our competitors have traditionally adopted - is spend your way out by attaching big rebates and miniscule finance rates to carry over inventory. This will sell some snowmobiles, but it devalues the current yearmodels and affects ourrelationship with our loyal Spring deposit customers. It becomes a race to the bottom, and that is not healthy for the industry. Customers don’t want to buy current year units if those units will lose much of their value the following year because of rebates.”

Smallman-Tew explainedfurther, “For 2019, we’ve made a tough decision to limit our 2019 production to key, high volume snowmobiles and place even more emphasis on ourSpring Power Surge early deposit program. These measures will help to reduce dealer inventory and maintain greater value and demand for Yamaha snowmobiles. Ourdealers, and most importantly our customers, will enjoy ahealthier relationship with our brand.”

Customers keen to get their hands on a 2019 Yamaha snowmobile willwant to ensure they place a deposit in the spring, as some 2019 models like Sidewinder B-TX and Sidewinder M-TX will only beavailable in the spring.

On the topic of spring deposits,Yamaha’s Spring Power Surge program will be even more exciting for 2019. Apart from the usualincentives like accessory credits, extended warranty, and attractive finance rates, Yamaha intends to reward those customers who place a deposit and register a 2019 unit. Each customer will be entered into the SPS Sweepstakes, where they can win 1 of over 100 Yamaha prizes, including Pressure Washers and Generators. Not only that, but three ‘Win Your Purchase’ prizes areavailable to be won for customers who place a spring deposit. More information can be found here for the Canadian program and here for the US.

Yamaha is building off a strong 2018 and has boldly stepped into 2019 with the new Sidewinder SRX, an enhanced line-up and aggressive new Spring Power Surge sales program. The time to Conquer Snow is right now.

Sad, not one Japanese built sled from Yamaha anymore. Maybe they will fall into the category like John Deere, Skiroule, Snojet...

The VK540 is the only sled Japanese built. And rumours are that yamaha will roll out new next year. Only snow checking is done to eleminate old stock before rolling out new.

Honestly I think the industry should slow down, stop making so many changes every year, sled prices back to a spot people can actually afford to buy one. Today’s society is crazy the changes required to stay competitive. I give kudos to yamaha for making a tough decision. The rest should follow. Polaris absolutely drove their used market in the toilet due to a over abundance of sleds. We have a local skidoo dealer sitting on 40 brand new 850 sleds ...the market needs a big correction or our kids won’t even want to do the sport due to cost.

Yup couldn't agree more. I know my kid used to ride, he doesn't any more. The cost is the factor and it pushed him out. I know many, same thing.
Plus for Yamaha the customer satisfaction is extremely high and their customers usually hold onto their units a little longer.

I had my Tapex from 05/06 season to 2011..... I was watching the Arctic Cat reveal live feed and the fella that was addressing the crowd had a very interesting statement. "Products" they want to produce products, and produce them now. As seen with the ascender platform release mid season. I think this is a poor business plan and not sustainable.....when a sled is starting to cost almost 20g, dirt bike over 10g, sxs 30g+ to cover the costs of all the R&D to have new products every year ......what ....really!!!! How are people going to afford to make this part of there life? If all the manufacture's could get together and slow down the High cost/abundant business model to reset the motorsports industry. Now that being said about the high cost's...I typically keep my new sleds for a few years so it washes out in the end.

If I was one of the manufactures there would be more focus on snowmobiling being a life style, more affordable and not promoting the need for the latest and greatest to get the sales. Slowing down will also help thier bottom line I'm sure selling sleds at near full price and the small aftermarket companies will sustain there business's to for the guys who wish to change things.......Here's Yamaha's Philosophy's....they make sense to me..

///Our Philosophy

At its heart, what defines Yamaha Motor Canada Ltd above all else are 3 core values:

  • EXCELLENCE - through quality, innovation and performance
  • PASSION - for adventure and the outdoor lifestyle
  • RESPECT - for customers, employees, partners, community and environment
We integrate these values into all of our activities, and focus our energies on providing products which are suited to the unique demands of the Canadian marketplace. Through our close contact with our customers, our goal is to create experiences and memories that'll last a lifetime.

For myself and family, we love the sledding lifestyle, its a get away from the everyday grind.... The challenge, comradery, and sights is the best part of it.... having the latest and greatest is not even a thought for us.

This what I love about Yamaha....they build a awesome product, that lasts!!!!!!

So let recap....Unaffordable motorsports, lack of growth, which will have a negative affect on all our riding areas.

I’m curious what people think the value of a used Sidewinder will do next year? In my head I see it going a couple directions.

1. The lack of production of new units should maintain a fair value of the used units.
2. Yamaha makes a major revamp of sleds and things go upside down.

If they do a major revamp pricing could hold strong as well. Depending on how things look and it being a first year on a new unproven chassis could scare people for the first year.

Or like you said, could turn out like the Viper where you can hardly give them away once the Sidewinder came along.

I really hope they keep there value...such a great sled. Torn what to do next year...ride it another and see what happens.

I believe what Yamaha has done with this new program will be a win win for Yamaha, the dealers and us Yamaha owners.
In fact i believe that they will hold better value then the competition's units as a limited number will be available and with the SW growing popularity the demand will push its market.
Hell try to find a 17 Winder, they are harder and harder to get and as people see how these really work many are rethinking their current brand.
With the BRP G4 head ache many are really on the fence right now. I've seen it and heard it.

It's already happening, next year it will be even harder to get one and those who sit too long won't be able to get one or will pay more for one.
