i wonder if the new bar controls can be put on the 17/18 models.
The VK540 is the only sled Japanese built. And rumours are that yamaha will roll out new next year. Only snow checking is done to eleminate old stock before rolling out new.Sad, not one Japanese built sled from Yamaha anymore. Maybe they will fall into the category like John Deere, Skiroule, Snojet...
Honestly I think the industry should slow down, stop making so many changes every year, sled prices back to a spot people can actually afford to buy one. Today’s society is crazy the changes required to stay competitive. I give kudos to yamaha for making a tough decision. The rest should follow. Polaris absolutely drove their used market in the toilet due to a over abundance of sleds. We have a local skidoo dealer sitting on 40 brand new 850 sleds ...the market needs a big correction or our kids won’t even want to do the sport due to cost.
Yup couldn't agree more. I know my kid used to ride, he doesn't any more. The cost is the factor and it pushed him out. I know many, same thing.
Plus for Yamaha the customer satisfaction is extremely high and their customers usually hold onto their units a little longer.
If they do a major revamp pricing could hold strong as well. Depending on how things look and it being a first year on a new unproven chassis could scare people for the first year.
Or like you said, could turn out like the Viper where you can hardly give them away once the Sidewinder came along.
