Been out on 2 trips now, about 700kms on the Sidewinder and noticed some oil in the engine area. I opened up my air filter and found the oil seems to be coming from there. Im assuming its coming from the crank case breather hose that goes into the intake box. Anyone else having this problem? Found oil pretty much through the entire intake system; intake, intercooler piping, intercooler, ... The sled has been rolled over it's fair share when getting unstuck or just cause my skills suck. Anyone ever run a catch can setup on these sleds? Or any other ideas?

There is some normality to oil in the intake track on these 4 strokes. But not so much that it would collect in the engine compartment. You must had it upside down for a while. The engine uses what is called dry sump meaning oil is kept in a separate reservoir but there is a certain amount of oil that remains in the crank area. When upside down for too long it will eventually work its way up into the head area were it will find its way out the breather tube into your air filter.
If you have your sled upside down for a while, it is my opinion to let it sit for a minute or two before firing back up to allow the oil to return to crank and move out of the head area. If you don't the vacuum pressure will blow more oil into the breather and into the air filter.
Hope that makes sense. Other then it can be messy, it wont hurt nothing.

It hasn't been upside down for a long period of time at once, and when it is upside down its just to get out from a stuck.

I know when I had boosted imports we would route that line to a catch can setup. Anyone ever think of doing this? Or not worth it?

Also when you run an aftermarket cold air intake are people routing that line back into the intake?

Mine had a bit ...seen oily residue on plastic around the clutch area ....it was upside down for a few minutes once and rolled it over 5-6 times also. Guessing a little will get by the system as long as it’s not running out.
