Went out for a ride today and came accross quad tracks on the groomed trail. I could tell there was more than just a couple machines ripping up the trail but was surprised when I cam accross a group of 7 machines. The first two quadders I came upon stopped and appologized for making a mess of the trail but their "buddies" were leading their group and they didn't know where they were going. I left them and came upon the rest of the group. They were ignorant, disrespectful people that told me they had the 'right' to ride their quads where ever they want, summer or winter. I jusy explained to them that our club has spent around $30,000 and well over 1500 volunteer hours maintaining and grooming the trails this season to enjoy on snowmobiles not quads. I realize the season is coming to an end but the groomer just covered some of this trail in the last week and it was in great shape & going to hold together for at least a few more weeks until these 'undesirables' made a mess of them. They did not have license plates on their machines and the road they came off of to access the trail was all mud and no ditch to ride in on the sled so I could not get to their trucks to get plate numbers. I really wanted to give them a piece of my mind but five against one didn't seem like great odds for me. They got the message but I doubt my words will make a difference. It's so damn frustrating... The trail is ripped up from #9 to #18, then to #16 and down to the look-out by the Athabasca River. I may try and ride it again tomorrow when it's warm to smooth it out a bit as I don't believe we will be grooming any more.

Ya, there were quad tracks on our groomed trails today too. Always happens about this time of year. Frustrating, but not a lot we can do about it.

That sucks. But you are right. What you said probably wont make a difference unless their buddies give them ch!t.

We seemed to have had a few incidents this year, usually when you explain the situation to the offenders, they are more contrite. However, there are a few that just don't get it and there really is nothing you can say or do to change their mind. Although didn't the resident Law expert say that offenders can be charged with vandelism for wrecking marked trails? No one really wants to go that far but a lot of money gets spent to create a safe trail system for riders. Wouldn't be noticed if quadders rode like human being instead of the yard apes they portray when they tear up the trails because they can. :nono:

Quadders aren't the only ones f#%^*%# up the trails. 4x4 tracks on the Iron Horse near Moose Lake. Asshats come in all shapes and sizes.

Well the Long Lake trails took a beaten from the quads this week too, I'm finished grooming for this year, I got a good laugh in though, the trails are packed two feet thick and the one quad got off the trail into about 3 ft of soft snow, he had a hell of a time getting back on the trail.
It was a good year for the groomers and the sledders.
See you on the trails

You can't fix stupid.... I know some people who are going sledding to whitecourt this weekend, but I think they are starting at Eagle and going to Gundy and on to the trappers cabin.....

Ah is it not the end of sledding season? I ride quads and would not feel bad at all to go down skidoo trails in this part of Alberta at this time of year. During obvious sledding season I would not do that but come on guys get over it your season is over let some other users enjoy the trails let's all try and get along.

And before ya bash me I do help clear sled trails in Ministik in the fall even though I currently do not own a sled so I get it.

yes, our groomer on the north side is land locked, not safe to go on river anymore to get to Eagle trails, and we dont dare haul it and leave it at Eagle anymore with the 2 incidents of theft and vandilism. sorry guys, maybe tomorrow we haul our selds out and see how the trails are.and yes, «I love quading too., but not on 2 ft of soft snow.

Trails out by silver summit were great yesterday, over waist deep snow but super hard packed ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365878479.889565.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365878498.093248.jpg ImageUploadedByTapatalk1365878523.345119.jpg
