We rode groundhog east a few weeks ago and we have the caribou boundary’s downloaded into our gps. It seemed like the closure signs are very poorly placed. According to the gps file and other maps, the area around east/west intersection is riding area but there are closure signs 1 km down the trail, in the middle of the gps riding area. Once in main riding area of groundhog east, on the east boundary there were also signs poorly placed. We couldn’t bring ourselves to ignore the signs and ride according to the gps though. In my opinion the gps should trump the signs because there is a lot of riding area that we should’ve been able to ride but couldn’t. Is there anybody with any knowledge on this?

3-4 years ago my friend and I were in groundhog East and stopped for a break probably at least 3-400 feet from a boundary sign and the conservation officers pulled up and said we were in the caribou closure area after arguing we were not and them showing us we were on his I pad gps we walked over about 50’ past some trees and pointed to the sign about 3-400 feet away they couldn’t really do anything and let us go. We are very respectful riders and respect the closure areas. We haven’t been back there since

We headed towards the collies today. It was whiteout conditions so we never dropped in. We just played in the trees. One guy in the group tagged a rock and blew out an arm, shock, clutch, tie Rod, etc. Had to patch it up and hope for the best.
Will be excellent by mid week if the clouds break and let some sun in. About km 5 they rode back like this. Worked well.

Have they move the boundaries on ground hog east recently? I agree the East side seemed to off limits in some funny places

I did some looking online and couldn’t find anything new. Even right from the government website it is the same as my gps file.

According to the sled Blue River website White River is still closed for logging. Not sure about the others up that way. Haven't seen any grooming reports for heading that direction either.

We rode the Coulees a few weeks ago and noticed new boundary signage is up this year. Its the area up past the waterfall and the meadows which overlook Wells Grey.

White River is still closed, supposed to be open end of January.
Club is working with Trans Mountain for right away access to Foam. Currently no agreement, no grooming, no bridge in place.

Guys stay pretty quiet in here hey? lol

Another awesome weekend in Blue River. Rode Clemina Friday, Coulees Sat, and Red Sands yesterday. Like always, goat trail was tracked but rode fresh snow all weekend and sunshine Fri Sat. Can’t complain about that
