Well here goes my first mountain trip in chest deep snow experience, and for the record I don’t feel like an old Fu&:er just been doing this a long time lol
It was January 1989. I was riding a brand new Indy 500 short track we had an SRV and an XLV with us. First trip to the mountains, snow was chest deep. We were on the old trail up Allan in Vale and spent all
Of Saturday trying to get up the trail. We spent a big part of Sunday getting a little farther when a bunch of guys showed up behind us on Mid 80’s Doos with 2 inch PVC pipe cut in half bolted to their tracks. We all worked together walking / packing the trail. One guy would rip up get 10
ft farther 5 of us would spin it around and the Next guy at the bottom would go and repeat. Learnt a lot that trip. How to roll your sled over to get spun around. How to roll it on one side pack, roll
Onto the other side, pack and keep going up.
. Never did get into the alpine after 2 full days of sledding, but of course I had to see what the hell was at the end of that damn trail and been sledding in the mountains ever since.
I can still hear the HOWLLL those plastic paddles used to make on the hills......
Good times !!!
