VARDA is very proud to release our plan to construct a new warming shelter in the Allan Creek area in the fall of 2018. This will be our largest and most challenging infrastructure project to date and we are excited to be releasing our plans to the public.

We are even more proud to say that we will be constructing this shelter as a memorial to a recently fallen local legend, Tony Parisi. What many may not know, is that Tony fought hard for backcountry access and was one of the main reasons conversations began that eventually led to the creation of what we now know as the Valemount & Area Recreation Development Association (VARDA).

Tony lived for the feeling of being in the highcountry on sleds and helped pioneer the industry that feeds Valemount today. Allan Creek was his second home and this new shelter will forever act as a memorial for our good friend, mountain legend, true cowboy and the original Snowfarmer.

The new shelter will be a stretch for us, but we believe that the value in this new project is extremely high for our visitors and are excited at the challenge.

Due to the remoteness of the building site, very short build season and general difficulties of construction, this will be a very large undertaking.

As with the construction of the Clemina shelter, many have already asked how to help with this project. The funding campaign for the Clemina shelter was a big success and we are relying on that level of support again to make this project possible.

We will be running the same donation campaign as we have previously with the Clemina shelter. All donors over $100 will be recognized on a permanent plaque in the cabin in one of three categories. There is a limit to get on the memorial plaque although no donation is too small. Every little bit counts. Donations can be made via the gofundme link below, direct etransfer, paypal or good old cheque.

"Treeline" $100 - 499
"Alpine" $500 -999
“Highmark” $1000 +

This is one of our largest projects to date and we are anxiously waiting for the alpine construction season. The new shelter means a huge deal to sledding in Valemount and we are extremely happy to be able to dedicate this build to our friend Tony.

If you have any questions about any of this information, please contact me anytime.

Thanks JAMES,

We were unable to repair the last plaque and were actually unhappy with the product in the end as it was too difficult to see. We will be re-doing the Clemina plaque and will be sure to get your name spelled correctly.

Will my name be spelt correctly in this cabin or will I also have so stare at another miss spelling of my name.

Either way I will donate.

Thank you Curtis, I was giving you a hard time.

Its important that we as a sledding/outdoors community support these projects, I hope one day my kids see the plaques, and are proud with what we have done to further our sport.

Thanks JAMES,

Is our name on it? I havent made it up there to see it, this year! Is there a pic of the plaque someone could post? We would like to make a donation for this one as well, but not crazy about the gofundme deal. Be better to mail it straight to you IMO. Cheers, holio.

Some of Brian's riding buddies will definitely have their name on the plaque and would also love to volunteer if it's after carnie season.
