Trailer propane heaters

What are you guys using for your enclosed trailers? Im looking for a catadyne style such as they use in the oilfield that is explosion proof.

With fuel from the sleds i dont feel comfortable using a sunflower or herman nelson.

Dunno know for sure but I think the most reasonable one might just be an RV style heater! Thats what we are planning to put in ours. They're small, easy to install and easy to add options to ie boot dryers etc. :beer:

Check out Catfish Supply on the Net. They have an 18K btu propane w/fan. Low oxygen shut off and it is vent free. Had one in our old trailer, worked great and just finished the install on the new one this weekend.

I have used a "little buddy" lpg heater from princess auto for 3 years...... Will use it in my new to me, used trailer for this year, then probably getting into a built in heater....... The little buddy did an okay job.... Never got hot inside, but sure took the chill off.....

i'd go with the catadyne heater you could probaly even get one for a verry good price some wear out in the field. I was thinking about doing the same thing with an enclosed trailer one day.

I Run with a RV furnace 35-40000 Btu & it works awesome it compact easy on propane & safe with the sled inside.

I installed a 34000 btu suburban rv style furnance. Works great and safe. Got it out of the usa for around $600 brand new. The bracket was made by a guy in red deer alberta but grassland trailer sales it were i got mine. I also did a ac/dc Panel so I can run the heater off of my truck or plug it into my house at home. if anyone has any questions i'll do my best to help!

Just an FYI you may want to check with your insurance company. I was told that I had to have it "professionally installed" and inspected. A person would hate to have no insurance coverage if something happened. Just my 2 cents

does anyone know how long the certification is good for on the automotive propane tanks like the one shown in the picture from the previous post?

looking for a used propane tank for the trailer....looks like you can pick one up for cheap on kijiji, but if it's only good for another year or so then it's pointless no matter the price...

or how much are they new? where can you get one?

I have a 18000 btu Northstar Flameless heater I used for 3 years in my old enclosed trailer. It worked great, I might be selling it you can check it out on the Northstar Flameless website. I forget how much I paid for it but l look into it and let me know. Shad

Could you let me know where you got it from? Does your truck power it good enough, didnt think there would be enough power produced to run that large of heater?

the heater, propane tank,ac/dc Panel came from Low Priced RV Parts, RV Accessories RV Supplies
The truck or house power has no problems running the furnance. Without the truck or house pluged in it can run off the one battery I got in my trailer. It don't run great off of one 12v battery. I think if I has two 6v battery in series if would run better. 99% of the time it runs off the truck or I'm in a place were I can plug the trailer into 120v ac .ac/dc panel is an easy way to install the furnance to run off of 120v ac or 12v dc. I think RV style heater work good and their safe. If you need anymore info Just let know
