How are you guys immobilizing your vehicles in an effort to deter thieves? We lock up the Superclamps and I have a 3/8" diameter cable that we snake through the sleds and lock to the deck with a large hardened steel security padlock. I think this takes care of the sleds, but I'm wondering what the best way is to immobilize a 2009 Silverado 2500HD. Pulling fuses? If so, are there any in particular that are best to pull? Has anyone installed a hidden switch to cut power to a critical circuit? I realize its kind of a sensitive thing to be posting secrets. Maybe a PM or email is the best way to discuss any specific ideas.

take the tires off and put the truck up on blocks lol......put a real big sign in the window (on that neon green or pink card board) that says "try and steel me" I bet they wont look at it! they like to take the easy pickings and if they see a sign like that they will wonder what kind of trap it is! just sleep in your back seat. bestwestern in sicamous now has their cement and steel gate up.....no easy way out now!

I lock all doors on the trailer with padlocks(key locks?), lock the trailer on the ball same way, and have a locking pin in the hitch. Truck just gets basic lock and has alarm system (flashing blue lights in the windshield lets em know theres a chance she'll start screamin) .. so if someone showed up with bolt cutters or something all my ch!t is gone.. but like longhorn said, everything is insured and I guess I rely on ON-Star being a deterrant for my 09 sierra. Gonna program my SN & onstars number into my phone so that if it ever does get stolen I can call em and get it shutdown asap.
Onstar is your biggest deterant to thieves, it seems (IMO) that its mainly fords that are disappearing, because theres no way to track em and its easy to break into them through the door handles. sorry my answer likely wont help ya

Get some fine copper wire and weave it into the seat fabric and then hook it up to the coil. That'll light em up like an Xmas tree if they get it started. Guess that would only work on a gas job with cloth seats tho.

Be smart and use what you can.
I use superclamps up front and weave a cable lock though the track on the open trailer. Use a steering wheel club on the truck.
Insurance - everything is well insured casue if there gonna take it - well all the deterrents are not going to stop them.

Alarm w/ engine disable,visable flashing lights and stickers.The thieves will go for the easiest vehicles first(Older Fords W/O alarms).Leave your Spot beacon on, in your sled so the cops don't have to get involed with the beatings.

Im going to have to agree with the OnStar comment for the GM/Chevs, all of the trucks that I have read stolen in recent years were 06 and earlier Fords as far as I remember they didnt have chipped keys, a slim jim and a screw driver and your rig was gone. When we have traveled in one of these fords we pull the fuse on the fuel pump (yours just has to be harder to steal than the other guys).
I know it's not a deterent but what about parking close to some trees and putting a game trail camera watching your truck maybe get a pic or 2 of some guys snooping around. Or one on the road in snapping pics of licence plates of everyone driving in and out might help in catching some of these azzhats. Cause if they REALLY want it they will REALLY get it locks only keep honest people honest. I have read online one time guys sabatoging one of their own jerry cans(the easiest one to reach) by putting something in it then went looking for a dead sled

Can you call OnStar and have them disable the vehicle after you park, then call them again when you want to start it? Unless you can do that, OnStar only helps you after it gets stolen. I want to focus on preventing the theft from happening altogether. Most of the time, these azzholes are only after the sleds. They steal the vehicle and move it a relatively short distance to a place where they can work on getting at the sleds. This all happens before you even know its gone.

1/2 pound of c4 under the dash with a remote 12 volt switch (I'm sure there's an app for that). When you find out it's gone... let 'er buck. It might destroy your truck, but your sh!t's gone anyway, might as well take the scumbags out too.

I called OnStar to see if they offered a service whereby they would disable my vehicle upon my request in order to prevent a thief from starting it, then enabling it again when I call them back. Unfortunately, this service is not available. They can only help me AFTER someone has stolen my truck. That's great but I still want to focus on stopping the theft in the first place. I'm going to look further into the Mastergard M6000 immobilizing system offered at LADS Auto Repair here in Calgary. Its pricey at $825 but maybe my insurance company will give me a break on my premium if I install it, which would help offset the price a little. I asked him how much for just the window stickers, and he laughed and said no problem....$825!

I checked into a "hidden Switch" for my 2008 GMC - was told it is almost impossible to steal unless they have the key. Security Co. (In Leduc) told me same applies to all new brands. Do your own DD.

I worked at a shop that had a forklift we would rig up like this an an initiation ritual. Fawk, was that ever a wake up call. If the 'ol Hyster actually started (LOL), then the operator really did a nice funky chicken.....good memories!

Get 'The Club', it will stall them long enough that most thieves won't / don't want to take the chance of being seen / caught.
The thief doesnt worry about the club, they just cut the steering wheel. Throw the club on the floor. Cant cut the club, but the steering wheel sure cuts nice & quick. There was couple news articles about in the fall time. What I want to my programmer to be able for the engine not to start. So far the programmer makes the engine have 1/2 stock power, it wont rev over 1400rpm. Im working on them.
