    mirage extreme snow

This is unbelievable, i was driving through montana today with my mirage extreme snow 27 ft enclosed when the front axle sheered off and lodged under the rear axle. Pushed through the side of the trailer, what a mess. I phoned the dealer that i bought it from(won't mension any names yet) and he said what do you want me to do about it? They were no help so i phoned ama and limped it back to canada and will be phoning Mirage on monday. So will keep everybody posted on what kind of service i get on a 11000 dollar trailer that is a year and a half old.

Found this info in an older thread. Seems like there have been some issues with these trailers.

The bolts did not sheer off, the shackle completely ripped off the frame, the tow truck driver couldn't believe it. The dealership had the nerve to ask me if i hit a rock or something. I told him not to go there. Thanks guys i will keep you posted on monday, if i don't get the right results i will be phoning mirage and plastering pics all over this site and many more

    Re: mirage extreme snow

Thats crazy, can't say I'd buy a mirage trailler after hearing this and seeing the other post. It would seam that theres not much quallity in most trailers out there. We bought a horse trailer, only to have to repair a ground wire before we could leave the dealers lot lol. Then on the way home the running lights started to flicker, I found the main ground in the tariler loose and fixed it. I also had to readjust the brakes so the thing didn't pull hard to one way lol. I have come to the conclustion that any thime you buy a trailer look at very closely and plan on repairing a few miner things. When i get time I will be pulling out all the butt connectors and wire taps and replacing them with solder and heat shrink. I think the problem is that the government doesn't have great standards for quality or saftey or even warranty like they have for vehicles. mirage sounds like a company that doesn't care at all, i know that some of the other trailer companys are better .

    Milton

Sorry to hear about your luck i believe i went sledding with you and dobir last year in fernie if your the guy that got the snow dumped on your truck at glacier mtn. Kinda worried about this story as i also bought a 26 ft mirage extreme snow this last year haveent had any issues with it really other then putting a sled deck through the dront V. Guess i will have to make sure i keep a eye on the axels is this the one that has tandum 3500 lb axels? Well hopefully they take care of you these trailers i think have like two year warrenty against factory defects.

    Re: mirage extreme snow

There was a dealer in Westlock that stopped selling the trailers due to the manufacturer sticking him for thousands of dollars in repairs that were supposed to be warranty and then the manufacturer decided not to honor the warranty.

There are a fair number of people out there with these trailers, take a good look at the axles, check your tires for wear patter which will indicate if you have an alignment problem and if you do get someone professional to look at it. Get the axles fixed before something like this happens.

    Re: mirage extreme snow

After reading some other posts on mirage trailers kinda wish i would have spend a couple more g's and went with the triton sounds like a manufacture that might be trouble seeing it is not paying its warrenty claims by dealers. From the sounds of it their is at least three guys on this site that have had axel issues with mirage trailers seems like the 26 and 28 foot trailers and from the sounds of it it is a pissing match bettween is it mirage fault or the axel maunfature fault. Anyhow definatly have to look over my trailer and need be do some welding on the axels just sounds like their quality control is not that great at mirage. Well i hope you have luck their milton and hopefully this is a isolated incent and is just a missed issue and not a engineering issue or else allot more people will be losing axels. Again thanks for the posts good to know.

    Re: mirage extreme snow

Yes Apex this is the right guy that you met with dobir, I am waiting till tomorrow to post pics till i hear what mirage has to say. I will not except any excuses or pay for these damages. This is a manufacturer defect, i have never taken this trailer off the number one and number two highway other then to stage, never hitten a rock or pot hole that could have done this. This axle just sheered right off the frame. Thank god it happened where it did cause if it was the rogers pass where we travel all the time to revy, i think things might have been alot worse as the trailer hopped up and down and skidded side to side. I will posts some more tomorrow.
