Arent the California LB7s the only one of those years with EGR's...

not 100% sure on that I know my buddy is building a nova/dirtymax with an 04 lb7 and she is emmissions free. I would assume it would be the california models only they are the ones who set the bar for emmissions.

Go to dieselplace.com and do alittle looking around. Here is what i know

LB7s have injector problems, warrentied to 250000km or 10 years (iirc)

LLY's have an overheating issue due to a smaller radiator, fan and the introduction of egr may also play a role in that. Most owners see the overheating at or near max gvwr in the summer heat. Headgaskets are also something to consider, they are a crapshoot in these trucks. My last one had 200000km when the headgaskets went, my current truck has 275000km and no headgaskets yet. And yes the injector harness should have been ice picked and the alternator bracket dealt with. (if you cant tell, ive have lots of experience with the lly.)

LBZ's could crack pistons if your running a crappy tuner. Other than that, they are good for 650hp.

All gens of duramax have the pump rub issue

the pistons tend to crack because of lowsy pulse rates by garbage aftermarket companies. 650 rwhp is a safe number to not crack a piston or blow a rod if using proper tuners. there are quite a few especially in the states running 700 rwhp or close to with proper pulse widths and still running stock rods and pistons. the new lml is beefed up and can supposedly take close to 850 rwhp on the new rods. Yes all have the pump rub issue and it is rather brutal I guess its why i did all my injectors and changed all the wiring around on my lmm I was getting pretty tired of having to repair every set of lines hopefully gm fixes this problem soon
