Does anyone have a espar on there 6.7 ford? I heard that the check engine light comes on cause the computer notices that the coolant is way warmer than the oil??? Just wanna find out before I go through all the work of installing one. Thanks:)

I can't see it being a problem. But call polar mobility in in Edmonton. I've got one on my gmc, and love it.

I talked to an espar rep about this at a trade show he said you have to go to ford explain the situation and they can vary the parameters on the trucks computer. They need the rotunda to increase the allowable differential between the 2. I have never verified this at ford but I am assuming it was just like when I got my titan tank installed they wanted to know what size it was, punched in and done distance to empty all good again.

Check engine lot has come on twice in two years from coolant/oil temp problem caused by the heater. I just check and erase the trouble code with my programmer.

I will ask the dealer next week. They are doing a titan tank install for me so that would be the time to have them change whatever they need to. I had a espar on my dodge and loved it then bought one for my duramax but sold the truck before I had a chance to install it and after this brutal cold week I figure I better get it on the ford. If any body could post some pics of how they mounted the unit and where they tied into the coolant lines etc that would be great. Thanks:)

did you do the specific ford 6.7 kit or a custom install. I am concerned about how long it will last in the muck underneath

Polar doesn't do Espar they are a Webasto dealer. After talking to guys that deal with these a lot on the industrial side the Espar is easier to work on and trouble shoot. Was thinking of trying one of their cabin heaters to warm a sled trailer.

Polar is an Espar Master Service Distributor and the largest Espar dealer in Canada. Eskimo is the Webasto dealer.

There is no specific 6.7 Ford kit.

My recommendation would be the Hydronic D5E, diesel pickup truck kit. Part number 25.2825.26.0522.

Not all Ford's throw codes, and as was mentioned they are easily cleared with a tuner.

FWIW. I am a Regional Manager for Espar, now I am just one guy covering all of Western Canada, we do not sell direct to the end user, only to MSD's, as such I don't have any pull on their pricing to you. So please don't fill my pm box asking for deals. I will do my best to answer questions though.

dvst8r:

Does Espar have the remote start app for these heaters. I heard something about those. They sound like the ticket...

Yes they do.

The Easy start remote, and the Easy start Call:
-The Easy start remote is your typical remote start wireless device
-The Easy start call is a cell phone based system so you can turn it on and off with a cell phone app. However it does require a plan with your local cell company.

We are also currently working with a company that will be offering a satellite based version so you can start it anywhere.

If you have a remote starter already, and it has auxiliary buttons, you can also wire it into the heater using a latching relay.

I did not find a specific kit for my truck. I did talk to the espar rep at mine expo and he said put it behind the rh fender liner. Followed his advice and it is protected and tucked away quite nice IMO. My friend just had one installed by polar in Calgary and they installed it under the truck. The cleaner you can keep it the longer the life to expect out of the unit. The install is super easy it's getting the fuel to the unit that is the pain. That is why the Titan tank went in at the same time, plus it's nice not stopping for fuel all the time. I can check my old phone when I get home and see if I got some install pics. Btw try cummins western Canada picked mine up for 920.00 on sale. Bought another two off eBay for 600.00 they were new as well.

The three MSD's in Alberta are:
Polar Mobility
Cummins Western Canada
Thermo King

Each one of those companies also has a number of sub dealers.

Two problems with EBay:
-Tough to get warranty
-Don't always get the install kit, sometimes you get just the heater, no harness or fuel pump, ect...
