I would start with the obvious like air filter and spark-plugs, they love to eat plugs. I'd also plug in a scanner and check the fuel trims as you may have an O2 sensor going bad and wasting fuel.

Depends on the year. My 08 got 13mpg on average. My 13 is getting 16 mpg on average. The really fawked up thing is it gets better mileage in the city then the highway. It will jump up to 20 mpg+ doing 60-70 km/h then drop down to 14-16 mpg on the highway doing 100-120 km/h

Its an 08 and I replaced all 16 plugs about 1000K ago. It also has an Air Raid cold air and Magnaflo muffler. I'm pretty sure this is the engine that drops to a 4, so im thinking something might be wrong with the sensors and its putting fuel to 8 cylinders and running on 4.
