Posted on Snowest.......too funny.

Thats awesome. Ford sure hyped up that motor and it isnt that great.(Typical Ford Marketing). Even my 2012 HEMI gets 14L/ 1ookm combined.

Ill pay for the extra gas to hear a V8 all day compared to that aweful sounding V6.

at what cost though, these engines have yet to prove themselves IMO....if they are still pulling hard after 5 years, then okay. until then....we wait

Warranty till 230k or 5 yrs with mine so not to worried.

Thing that surprises me is running 15 lbs boost with 87 octane. Lots of power left at the table I'm thinking with advancing timing and better fuel

nice, that's a great warranty package. thing about leaving power on the table is that it's not power they are sacrificing, it's longevity they are gaining.

Yes but the power would be sweet even of just for a little while :).
Aftermarket warranty so hopefully as good as it sounded if I need it
I know they usually aren't buy for 4g I took the chance

Well, i havent raced one or towed beside one. But i got 50 bucks that says they wont wont out tow me or do any better empty than my hemi. I do have a flowmaster exhaust and cold air intake so maybe that would change things a bit. Even stock i don't think they will.... IMO

I raced a stock ecoboost with my 6.2 and we were pretty much even, I have a cold air and exhuast and 33" toyo mts which may have slowed me down a little bit, but that ecoboost hung in there. Sorry to say but I think you would be out 50 bucks lol

I would go pinks of interested:) but you let me do exhaust and intake as well. Got three buddies with new hemis and they can't beat it.
Yes they sound better but still slower

Not even close on the 5.4 and the hemi, not by a long shot. However stock to stock the eco boost has the hemi by a slim margine in the 1/4 mile. However the hemi takes it in the half mile and beyond if governors are bypassed. The 6.2 also beats the hemi by a small margine (have buddies that own both and weve compared between my hemi and their trucks). In towing the eco boost gets to 100km/h faster than the hemi from a stand still but after 100km/h with trailer in tow the hemi will beat the eco boost. Passing power while towing is better in the new hemi as well. As for fuel mileage, the eco boost loyal crew has the widest range ever. Some lie and say they get as good as advertised and some tell the truth and say they get between 12-14l/100km empty going between 110-120km/h. My new hemi gets about the same. Last month on holidays in the states without the trailer in tow I got 958km to 114L of fuel going 70mph average for a rating of 11.9l/100km, that is the best I have done so far with truck, have 16,000km on it now. While pulling the holiday trailer from one fillup to another the best I did was 538 km to 111L of fuel and my gas light did not come on. All towing was done in the mountains for the most part between seattle, Wa and Whitecourt AB. I usually dont let my tank go that dry or empty but just wanted to get some real world numbers to compare to onboard computer ratings and ranges. Onboard computer was actually closer than I ever imagined but was still slightly inflated on the mileage ( said about .3L/100km better than actual). Those are some real world no lie numbers of the 13 hemi to compare to the eco boosts numbers

Chit I wish I was getting 12 litre per 100 with my Eco actually about 14-15 average. If I drive 80-90 k per hr I get 8 per 100 k but who wants to drive that damn slow

Thats exactly it, just cause it can achieve real good numbers doesnt mean it does with real driving. I could probably set my cruise at 90km/h and get low 10's or high 9's/100km or even lower but who wants to drive 90km'h and be "that guy" going 20 under the speed limit. Temps also play a huge factor. Pulling the 3 place enclosed in the winter to valemount, I get 80 km less to a tank than in the summer pulling my holiday trailer to valemount, holiday trailer weighs more as well and both are roughly the same dimensions, amazing what 30 degree or more temp difference makes.

Real world driving:

13-15l/100km empty
18-22l/100km pulling my 2 place 12 ft enclosed Floe trailer with 2 sleds from Calgary to Revy or Golden
25-28l/100km pulling my 23 ft Nash Holiday Trailer.
2011 Super Crew with 3.73 and 35,000km. No issues so far.

So you get the same mileage as I get in my Raptor with a 6.2 wtf? Why bother buying the eco boost then?

I just got invited and went to a dealer show to check out the new 2014 GMC and Chevy trucks (very impressive by the way). They are claiming better fuel economy with the all new 5.3 than the ECO B. Maybe it's true?
