haha, the quick release is a good idea, but not necessary....my shop truck is a Ranger, I think with that load I might get it up to 12kmh, not too squirrley at that speed.:d

ahhhhhhh the one thats not straped down... thats a quick way... pile on the brakes and weeeee its gone.. is that how a guy gets a new xp???????????
you will still pass in alberta as they go by as long as the tires will carry it your good, bc does it the right way.imo
I have had a alum deck for over 14 years and had it installed on the following trucks:
1977 Ford ranger 150 ( not the mini truck...)
1995 Ford F150
1996 Dodge 2500
1997 Ford F150
2001 Dodge 2500
All above were longbeds. None of the F150 exceeded GVW, I personally weighed them at the local seed plant, I didn't drive 120 km/hr either, 100km was my limit. All performed well, except the 1995 Ford F 150, its suspension wasn't all that great and could have used airbags. I went through 3 BC roadside inspections with no problems.
Out of my list, I couldn't beat the 1977 Ford for pulling, GREAT ride and power with a 460 cid motor. I always laugh that it got 14.4 miles/gallon loaded or MT, lol. Although my 2001 2500 dodge cummins 4x4 is the main puller now. Personally, I would be ok using a half ton again.
If you decide to go that route, just be selective and get a quality lightweight alum deck and don't pack to many frills. my $.02
