Springs or Air bags

I know it doesnt answer all the questions, but I have to agree, that is the first I have found in writing that states that non commercial vehicles go by the door sticker. Regardless of tires. The only reference to tires I saw was that you should not put tires rated for less on your vehicle.

My tires are rated the same, and legally we have pulled with that kind of weight on a 1 ton for years. I started in 1989 and have been hot shotting or hauling equipment ever since. It is not uncommon for my truck to be at 13k-14k on a regular basis.

In this picture, I was good for another 3800 pounds...Snowcat weighs in around 13,000#

14' wide, not the funnest to haul, but legal...

Mike many #'s is 'almost' right...I have a snowcat because everyone told me that I couldnt plow with one, and I was convinced that I could...And I have wanted to try and prove it for about 10 years...

The 'Jonses' however are my competitors who have been plowing the same way for 20 years and told me I was retarded to even consider a snowcat. Oh and dont even bother buying one, because we have the contracts and the experience so stay out of our sandbox...Not only does it kick some major azz compared to a tractor with a blade, it got all the work that the tractors couldnt handle, AND we got the contract for next year as well. It has a sister on its way here, I will run 2 next winter.

Oh, and its really fun to drive...:d

Well springs won out!!!....I had the springs installed today. I didn't say in the start of the question that the truck had a 450lb propane tank in the box. I didn't even think of it. The propane tank has been in the truck since 3 weeks after I got the truck. Now the truck sit only an inch and a half higher. The ride didn't change much. The truck looks better and firmer on the road. Thanks for all the input I did read all good and bad.

what do you plow? lease roads and such? I do the parking lots and would love to see the look on peoples faces when I unload a snowcat to do tim hortans! lol great idea for what you do!!!!

Yes, leases, trails, and oilfield roads. Uhmmm, I cant lend it to ya to do Timmies...Trust me, it will not fit through the drive through, and has enough power you wont feel it peeling open the side of the building like a pop can LOL

Would be kinda cool to do the parking lot in a couple passes though...:d

Our guys down here think ice roads are what ya get after freezing rain...just sayin

UPDATE UPDATE

Just got back from road trip and got my weights.

The unit was loaded as follows:
In Cab- Me, Wife, Small dog
In Box- two 25 litre water jugs, one 25 litre jerry can, Two pedal bikes, and one bug zapper
Trailer- Full of water, propane, and 2 6v batterys, and supplied with clothes food and water jugs/bottles/BEER for a week

So yes No quad or Generator did not need them.

WEIGHTS

Fr axle truck-2491 lbs
RR axle truck-4034 lbs(Includes tongue wieght)
Tongue weight trailer-683lbs
Trailer Axles-4166 lbs(hooked to truck)
Truck both axles-7253 lbs(hooked to trailer)
Everything-11419 lbs

All weights were with me on scale except tongue and trailer.

What that means is I was 53 lbs over on trucks GVW and 184 lbs over on RGAWR.

So if I dump 30 gallons of fresh water(tank is in front of trailer) I would be good on all counts.

But if I add a quad and generator but move the water/gas cans to the Soon to be rear basket. Im thinkin I would fall into the 500-600 lbs over catagorie. And that is without repacking some of the heavier items in the front of the trailer to the back of the trailer.

In conclusion yep im busted, im over no matter what i do but with commercial vechicles re-registering for 5000 lbs more (I think LONGHORN let me know)than the door sticker, I think most would agree Im not pushing any boundries. especially when I have upgraded pads and rotors from EBC brake company designed for towing application, 6 ply tires, and reese 1100lbs equalizer/sway control hitch, and the token trailer brakes.

Made a 1200km round trip out to Sask. wife even drove and she said it drove really easy. Guys this was with a 25-30km/h head/crosswind! I sat shotty and didn't even have to start drinking to calm my nerves she handled it like a pro. So if she can do that(My wife drives a Caliber) I think with 8 years of semi/service rig driving expierience I'll be able to navigate the roads safely.

anyway will post more wieghts with quad when I get them
