Have a 2011 Ram diesel and was wondering who has done the deletes and which controller your using? Heard lots about H&S tuners and deletes. How did your milage fair after? I am getting about 10 MPG towing my trailer but only have 10k on my truck. Thanx for any help guys. Shad

I dont have an '11 but I have my 08 3500 deleted. Huge improvement in mileage. Stock was 12mpg hand calculated and if I can keep my foot out of the go pedal I can get 19 running a lift and 35" Toyos. There was very little technology that was working when I did mine, but I am running an Edge Juice/Attitude combo set to delete codes on startup and Im super happy. Havent heard 'bad' things about H&S but have heard better things about Smarty. No codes with the Smarty.

I too have a good relationship with my dealer, zero issues regarding warranty, they are aware of all the mods and I dont alter anything when I take it in to the dealership. I am looking at an '11 and they have already agreed to let me delete on the new truck as well.

The only thing I forgot to add was that in the 'agreement' with the dealer, I had to keep the entire original exhaust, and if for some reason I have an issue that they cant diagnose then I would have to re-install the factory exhaust, but in 3 years this has never happened. We are running the Smarty on a Sterling, slightly different exhaust system, but same engine, and zero issues. I love the Edge but the cancelling of the codes takes a bit too long for my liking. There is a new Edge controller out right now that is much faster.

A good dealer is almost more important than a good truck nowadays...And ya, Ford is getting super sticky on their warranty issues...

Pulls better than your 05 chipped and turbo'd Dodge...You musta had the turbo on backwards BWAHAHAHA...

I am coming from a 03 5.9 cummins with a Bully dog controller. It was a great truck but this new truck is awesome in every other way in comparison but just looking for some MPG improvements and maybe some HP. Shad

I had an '07 6.7 Cummins. Originally, I went with the Edge Juice with Attitude and an H&S 5" TBE. I had issues with the Edge's wiring harness - a few breaks in the wiring harness for the injectors. Started carrying spare terminals and the tools needed in my truck, but got tired of that. I bought an H&S Mini Maxx and was extremely pleased. Absolutely no running issues whatsoever and I saw an honest 3-4 mpg increase. My 2011 will be getting the H&S exhaust and Mini Maxx very soon.

I know on the 5.9 engines the Edge runs hotter EGT's than the Smarty, so if you tow a lot, might be a good idea to install some gauges or the edge monitor system(alarms) will drive you crazy.

I ran the edge juice with attitude on my 07 ram 3500 and was averaging 17 mpg driving around the city. on the highway driving 110 - 120 it was around 22-24. On my 2011 ram 3500 I am running the h&s mini maxx. I only have 5000 k on my new truck and am averaging roughly between 16 and 17 mpg in the city. Your egt's run lower with the h&s and u also dont have to wait to start your truck like the edge. I have heard the smarty is a good programmer but it is more for some one that wants to do more specific tuning to their truck. I wanted something that was plug in and adjustable on the fly. For the 2011's the h&s and smarty are the 2 best options. I heard the edge doesnt work very good on the 2010-11. I also have a good dealer that told me to cut the emission crap out that it was the best thing I could do for the truck

They went straight to MGM he told them to keep'em no good to me if they cant idel in the cold. MGM chipped /deleted them right there and said no worries about the warrenty!
He's happy, so far

I have an 2008 Dodge 6.7 with all the deletes and i am very happy with it, i work for a dealer and my service manager could not come up with any arguement against doing the deletes. Better MPG, cleaner oil and less problems than the truck with the DPF's still installed. IMO i would go with a Smarty tuner over the H&S, the just came out with programming in the last month for the 2011 trucks. We did a couple of H&S tuners on 2010 and 2011 trucks and our techs prefer to install the Smarty tuners. Also, correct me if i'm wrong because i could be but the H&S cannot be put back to stock if you need to do that when you take it to the dealer for electrical diag where the smarty can be put back to stoc within minutes when you get to the dealership. I also run and Edge insight to keep an eye on my EGT's and trans temp. I towed my toyhauler with a rhino and quad last weekend and never got above 1100 degrees on my EGT's. it was 25 degrees out and i was pulling a couple big hills. i am very happy with the changes i made.

Shhhhhh, great that you found a good dealer, but please don't make it difficult for them by pasting their name all over the place, Stuff like that just makes it difficult when people start yippin and Ford comes knockin.

Smarty will still leave traces. Any programmer will leave traces if the dealer wants to look hard enough. The only possible way to get rid of programmer traces is lots and lots of km's back at stock. Only way to get rid of evidence inside the motor itself

i realize that, but if you need to get any kind of flash updates the truck has to be put back to stock programming.
