My early 04 Cummins is apparently starting to suffer from the comonly plugged lift pump pick up screen. So I was gonna order an air dog with the 1/2" pick up tube. Has anyone run one of these on the 305HP /555tq Cummins trucks?

I have the AD150 in my 08 RAM and have helped install a few of the same units into a few other trucks. My main reason for this install was to make service and replacing the filters easier. The benefits were better fuel filtration, better water seperation, different choices of filters, air removed from fuel supply to the injection pump, consistant fuel pressure and over all better engine performance. I set my truck up so that I can go back to stock in about 10 minutes or so if the aux pump ever fails.

If you can drain or siphon your tank it makes it a lot easier to do the job. Some guys remove the truck bed, but if you have a fifth wheel hitch or other accessories it is easier to drop the tank. When you drop your tank you can check to see if the screen is plugging off on the stock pump. Spray the strap bolts with some penetrating oil a day or so before you start wrenching and it will help. Measure the drawstraw so it fits into the groove at the bottom of the tank. If you get the length just right it will slurp out of this groove so you can run the tank just about completely empty...it also helps to keep the tube from bending or moving around. The instructions that came with my kit were great. Took about 2 hours to do with the front of the truck up on some ramps.

Good luck with your install!
