I must have got lucky with my truck i guess. I have 320K on the clock, truck is used for work in the patch. I pull my trailer about every second weekend in the summer. Haul sled about every second or third weekend in the winter. Never have i ever had any trans or motor issues (running a chip cold air and exhaust) and my front end repair schedule is right on par with guys from work that drive Ford and Dodge. Those IFS and allison set ups sure suck:rolleyes:

I have only had tranny cooler line leaks like some others. Never motor or trans issues in 240k. I don't think I said there were issues with the motors or trans? The original question was what is the best year for the Dmax. I simply posted up some info that many people would use to make some choices on what is best for them.

Comparing a stock Alli to a Ford tranny, Ford can take more torque/hp but the Alli is better with a few upgrades. I like the Alli 6 speeds. Why do you think Dodge basically copied it?

I have put two sets of ball joints and tie rods, pitman, idler and it needs axle seals. Sure any truck needs regular maintenance but there are very common issues with the GM/Chev IFS. Sure any make has them, but I have had better luck with solid axle setups.

A truck is like a sled to me, I try to get the best performance and reliability from it. So I guess its terrible to point out some weaknesses. Just like there are those people who never do any clutching to their sleds and have zero issues there are those people who have great luck with their other vehicles.

Super glad you have had no issues with 320K. :thumbsup2:

I have a 07 with the LMM and have 192000km on it, never had any major issues with it. With the new trucks as mentioned you have DPF (07.5-current) and or DEF(11 and newer) you can get a programmers, exhaust setup's to remove. I have just removed my emissions exhaust and I was presently surprised at the increase in fuel mileage. I was getting 22mpg on my way to edmonton last weekend. The 6 speed allison is a must IMO (06-current). The LBZ(06-07) or LMM(07.5-10) are strong motors and are a good choice. I just put a titan tank on my too and love the range 52 gal over 26gal i just saved $46 on my last fill because i got diesel at 1.07L instead of 1.31L. Just my :twocents:

Is your mileage hand calculated or using Digital readout?
