is there anyone around the edmonton area that has a knack for holley carbs, i just put a 572 into my 81 camaro and having some tuning issues, thought it was all timing but the carbs in need of some setting i think too. has a holley 750 double pumper on it. almost seems like its running out of fuel at one spot then over fueling, damn thing. also if anyone knows what the trick to setting timing with an msd ignition system that would be great as well. cant just throw a normal timing light on them and cant remember what the trick to it was
thanks folks

Is the car automatic or standard....... Without knowing what you have, i would suggest the 750 is too small for a 572ci engine to begin with. If it's an automatic transmission, you should be running an 800 or 850cfm vacuum secondary carb. What do you have for fuel supply pump and what size fuel lines and what type fuel filter???

vacuum secondary carb would have way better driveability with an automatic than the double pumper, for street use. Is the pickup in the tank modified too, or still stock? And how is the sock filter in the tank? Are the clearances on the accelerator pumps on the carb set properly? Float levels set properly? You need to get the timing set up properly before you worry about the carb i suspect

what he said you will spend over half that on a good carb, big enough to supply the ole girl, and you still wont be happy with it. especially a holley whenever the clouds cover the sun you will have to retune it. go with the efi drivability waaayyy better as well as dependability factor goes way up to.
as for the th350. i hope you got lots of them cause youll needem.
sounds like a sweet ride though need pics of complete car and under hood engine bay install etc to properly diagnose the problem.:d:d:beer:

im not worried about the tranny, it was built by mel at excell tranny in red deer, the guy is unbelievable, said 850 hp through it no problem. it should be running 675 hp. running stock pickup in the tank. never had a fuel issue before but never had that kind of fuel demand in it before either, just pulled out the 406 stroker and ran a 700 holley on it. i am really not interested in going to a fuel injection system. ive spent way to much on this beast already and the savings account is taking a ch!t kicking. if i change nything i might go to a 850 quick fire carb. they are suppose to be unreal

Pics look good....... Get that upper rad hose secure/strapped onto the shroud so you don't have fan blade interference happenin' ;) ......... There's a few camaro's running around the park here with the same engine in them..... One does have the quickfire, and works awesome.... Think he was running low 11's with street slicks and 4.33:1 ratio and turbo 350 with 4000 stall

thanks guys, ya it sounds pretty rough when its at idle, most everything is merlin but went with a comp cam, theres a few things to clean up yet, have to put different upper rad hose on it all together, get the heater tapped in, still working on getting a ps pump bracket to work. everything i have tride so far has had the pulley touching the ps box and had the pump at a very shitty angle. might have to go to a smaller pulley or a pump with a remote res

Worked on lotsa th350's that are built to handle up to 1000hp......... No worries if it's built properly.

I'm with Ric on the TH350 thats usually a big wives tale on "having" to have a TH400 turbo 350's were bolted to big blocks in tons of heavy duty applications from station wagons to grain trucks to military vehicles they can handle some big torque outta the box. The 400 does have a lower 1st gear, more clutch packs to keep cooler and a larger tail shaft to accommodate larger u joints causes that is really the weakest point, but the 350 will handle the day to day drivability better.

......as for the carb when I was growing up "carburetor" was French for don't f#%k with it
