Tires

I need a new set of tires for my 08 F350, I am not going with ProComp xtreme A/t's.

My rims are 20 x 8 Factory ford rims
Need a 35" tire, 12.5" max width
Somthing thats good in snow, mud, etc that will get me up the hill while pulling the 4 place loaded.
And I need a E rated tire min

I have looked at so far:

Procomp Extreme MT's 35" x 12.5 x 20
BFG all terrain T/A
Nitto Mud Grapplers

Fountain Tire is going to give me a refund on the tires that they cant seem to balance

Did ya look @ the aToyo M/T. Very good in the summer, I ran them one winter.... They were good when lots of snow & ok on icy roads with tire air pressure set back. Not the best winter tire. Dont know if you can get a E rating for that larger size.

I'd second the toyo mt's I've run them for two years now and by far the best tire I have ever bought. They are pretty quite for a mt. Not the best on ice but really not that bad. I have 35"X12.50R17 rated "E".
Take a look at them!

Thats what I just asked summitric to look for, I spent 2 hrs doing research and that seems to be the one.

My rims are 20" rims factory ford. The toyo 35" tire says it needs an 8.5" rim mine my be to small..

I'm running 35x13.50x18 Dick Cepek FCII's on my '08 Ron. I ran thru 3 sets of Toyo MT's on my '04 and these seem to be wearing alot better than the mud tires did. They are also a little cheaper than the MT's; and should be much better in the winter.

Talk to summitric, I had to get a bunch of work done to my truck, including new tires, brakes, front end, tranny flush, oil change, etc. He saved me over $1000 on the total bill, which included $100 off PER TIRE on the Mickey Thompson BAJA MTZ 315/70/17s (35"). He seems to know a thing or two about a thing or two when it comes to that mechanical stuff. I told him that something seemed wrong after he did all the work, because my truck doesn't shake and vibrate the way it used to!

Well, not much Tires will be 35" and fit on a factory 8" x 20" rim at this time. Im suprised the Pro Comp AT's are for a min 8" to 10" rim. Thats the specs on the website procomptires.com. I ordered a set of dynabeads which will be here early next week. Ric says to try that first. dynabeads.com They may work, nothing else will. Fountain Tire offerd me a refund, but what do I replace them with. Nothing!
Next time I will order a truck with cheap rims and upgrade them and stick to 18" rims, 20" are a complete hastle right now. In a year Ric says there will be alot more out there for the factory rims.

Lets hope these DynaBeads (ceramic tire beads) work. Check there website Tire Balancing Products

Well I decided to go BFG All terrain TA's I cant go wrong with those, I will order on monday and scrap the Pro-Comps. They have a 34.7" x 12.5 x 20" tire available that is made for a 8" rim. I wont put the beads in my existing tire and will go with a proven good a/t tire.

Thanks, Shredder, Im looking into those. The tires Im going to end up were BFG all terrains LT285/65R20/E they are made for a 8 - 10" rim and are 11.5" wide, I think I won't wonder in and out of the road ruts like my 13.5" tires were. Those fender flares, Im just waiting to see a 08 with some locally, They are Bushwacker flares they have 4 different types one has no chrome bolts and its a little smaller, I want to check those out as well.

Definately put on flares. They will minimize the amount of debris that flys off of the tires. Especially important while on the highway. I hope the BFG's work for you this time.

Does one get much debris under the flares or do they seal firm, I like the look.

Biggest advantage is to reduce the amount of snow and mud being directed at your mirrors. Ron didn't have them on the GMC. The Dick Cepek tires throw a lot of stuff at the mirrors. Had to clean them off a couple of times.

I've had the Bushwacker Poket Flares (the biggest ones you can get) on both my Dodges, and am really impressed with them. When you couple that with GOOD running boards (not nerf bars) and 14" heavy duty mud flaps (12" just doesn't cut it. Then extra 2" prevents the mud chunks from smacking your mirrors and side window) you have a pretty good package.

Trucks been good. I put a lot of HARD miles on it. I would talk to Summitric. He seems to know how and where to get a good deal on that stuff.
