Anyone have tire balancing issues?

I got bran new ProComp 35" x 13.5 x 20 Xterrain AT's
They have a real nice tread design, look good, load range 'E' tires. But I cant seem to get them to balance. Ive taken to the shop where they were installed, they have tried 2 times and thought it was all good, when I hit 90 Km/hr my truck starts shaking and and keeps shaking worse at you go past 110 km/hr. Im not paying $2300 for 4 tires that shake. Now I took it to another place they tried, they said it was out quite a bit and made the rims look worse with more weights on the outside (Yuk!) So I took it for a ride, but same as soon as I hit 80 the wheel was shaking. So I took it back, I got balancing beads installed instead. It still shakes. Now im frustrated. I called Fountain Tire and they said to bring it in and they will change the front tires and see how it works. I did ask for a different tire but they said ProComp wont give a refund for tires just replace them. Now Im wasting my time again, I will not allow any more tire weights on the outside of the rim now, just stuck on ones inside the rim or tire beads. Im dropping it off at 1:00 today and Im demanding if they cant fix then they better come up with a solution. I didnt pay in excess of 70000 for a truck that shakes, and it was fine with the factory tires. I asked them if they cant get that to work put on Radial all terrains but they must be 'e' rated or Toyo tires. I like these tires but whats the use having tires that you can't go anywhere. Im a sledder and quadder, I travel lots..

Took it into fountain tire in St.Albert today, they decided to order 4 new ones from the manufacture, they should be in by Wednesday. They fiqure they may be a bad batch as they can't balance them. I guess I will wait till then.

Just wondering Ron if the rim is centered on the hub correctly. Are those aftermarket rims. Did you use different wheel nuts from stock to match rim type.Again offset does make a difference on how truck works

Glen, all factory except for tires, 2 different shops tried balancing 2 times each, even went with beads. The steering wheel shimmys back and forth when you hit 90 km/hr about 1 1/4" in either direction and the right rear wobbles a little too. I can hear my spare change rattling. They even criss crossed the tires and it changes things but it shakes differently. They both figure I may have 2 tires that have overlapped belts or somthing. There was no shake what so ever with the factory tires. I did even try tire beads. There is a ceramic tire bead that I could try but, why should I keep compensating for a bad set of tires. They offered to replace all 4 with a new set and they will be putting weights on the inside of the rim like mags, so Im happy. One of the tires has a 13.5 oz weight too, I think that may be a little too much.

OKAY, GUYS.... HERE'S THE STORY. THERE IS A SPECIAL BALANCING TECHNIQUE REQUIRED ON SOME FORD TRUCKS THAT EXHIBIT A VIBRATION SUSPECTED TO BE TIRE BALANCING ISSUES. MY OLD F350 4X4 DIESEL HAD A BALANCE PROBLEM WHEN I CHANGED TIRES AND I COULDN'T EVEN BALANCE MY OWN TIRES IN MY OWN SHOP... I TRIED FOUNTAIN TIRE, SHERWOOD KAL TIRE AND TIRECRAFT AND NO ONE COULD BALANCE THE TIRES.... I FOUND THE TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN FROM ALLDATA & MITCHELL AND IT WAS REQUIRED TO HAVE A "ROAD FORCE" PRESSURE BALANCE DONE(THEY BALANCE THE TIRES WITH A PRESSURE BEAM ON THE TIRE TO TAKE OUT ANY TIRE FLAWS).... ONLY PLACE I KNOW OF THAT DOES IT IN AND AROUND EDMONTON, IS KAL TIRE ON THE YELLOWHEAD AROUND 156STREET. WAS A LITTLE PRICEY(I THINK IT WAS $150.00+) BUT THE VIBRATION WAS FINALLY ALL GONE. RON, I WOULD RECOMEND DOOING THIS BEFORE LETTING THEM TRY AND REPLACE THE TIRES..... THEY DID THIS JOB WHILE I WAITED.:twocents::twocents: P.S.: NICE TRUCK KITTYDUDE, BUT TOO BAD ABOUT THE VIBRATION IN IT TOO.... MIGHT TRY THE ROAD FORCE BALANCE TOO:twocents:

Well, today I took my truck to ABC Muffler and Hitch for the install of my Hijacker hitch and rails the mechanic mentioned to me that my truck must be quite noisy and ride funny. I said why, he said the tires are on backwards. Huh:eek:, I replied and took a look they are directional tires and there all going the wrong way. So I went home and criss crossed the tires and whalaa.. I took for a ride and wow, no shakes, its smooth and alot quieter. Now that I have put about 2100 km on the tires with them on backwards and all going the wrong direction I think I still want them changed as it is booked in again at fountain tire in St.Albert tommorow am to get this done. I will mention it to them and tell them to change anyway. I cant believe I took it to Kal tire on the South Side to spend $180 additional to get them to balance and fix the problem and they couldnt figure it out either, but were able to take my money no problem. I will be sending there head office a letter next week to let them know, I should get a refund on my $180.00 I think. We'll next time you have larger tires installed and you have a shake, check to see if there on the right way.

WOW, I can't believe that a TIRE SHOP would put on DIRECTIONALS on BACKWARDS. How embarrasing for them. I know that I would be questioning the professionalism and experience of those who put them on.
