Hey folks, got a youngun on the way and looking at getting the wife something a bit more reliable than what she has now. Looking at the explorers as they seem to check off most of the boxes. Anyone have any dealings with them? Specifically looking at '16 and newer, preferably an ecoboost for my entertainment.

We had a 2015. Electric power steering failed twice, $2G each time
nit covered by warranty. 64,000k first time, 101 second time. Blender door broke at 90,000 ish, cost me another $900ish for parts, fixed it myself. Comfy to drive, decent in fuel for bigger suv, windshield side trims fail as well. Other than the issues we had we liked it.
****ty thing with these electric power steering pos is when it fails, you’re fawked. Steering wheel
locks and you can’t move it. No warning of anything getting bad either.

Have a 2020 We like it so far. Lots of zip. Averaging 9L/100
had a few electrical things mess up but turn the thing off and back on and it’s back to normal
so far it’s been good but only have 20k on it
