Two Place Sled Trailer Tongue Weight

Just curious if anyone has ever looked into it , or might have an idea . I just bought a used 2 Place Enclosed alluminum Sled trailer . Similar to the Polaris ones most guys are pulling , only the one I have has a much shorter tongue on it . With a sled on my deck , I’m required to run a hitch extension that claims to have a 300lb tongue weight capacity . Where as your normal standard hitch has a 600lb tongue capacity . Do you think I’m exceeding that 300lbs at the tongue with 2 sleds and a few gear bags in it ?

The trailer is an R&R Arc 11 .

Any in-site would be greatly appreciated !

Any trailer place has a tongue weight gauge. You can even buy one.

Jeez . Never seen one of those ! Thanks guys . I actually talked to one of my buddies that has the similar Polaris trailer, that he uses quite often and he uses the same length of extension, although his is rated at 350lbs, and hasn’t had a problem .

A Fellow at a RV dealer in BC years ago told me hitch extensions are not legal to use in BC?
Anyone else know if that is valid statement or not?

All depends how far in you pull your sleds. When I load 2 sleds in mine I’m guessing the tongue weight is over 300 pounds but I pull them all the way forward. I’m sure you could set it on your bathroom scale and get a rough idea but the obvious solution is to get a hitch that can handle a bit more weight. How long of extension do you need?

Most hitches are bolted in. Go buy a chunk of tubing the length you want, you could go thicker then have no worries. Probably be close to the same price as an extension
