Sled Deck & Tonneau cover Swap

Just wondering if anyone is running a Tonneau cover in the summer and taking it off for the winter for a sled deck.

Curious what Tonneau cover you are using.

I just got the cheapest roll up one from ford as I just use the tonneau to cover the 5th wheel hitch in the summer. The tri fold ones block the back window when im towing so that was useless.

I don't run a sled deck so maybe my input is not valuable but I do run the BakFlip tri-fold hardcovers on two of my trucks. You can remove the cover and leave the side rails on very quickly with no tools...2 quick-bolts.
If the rails are in the way, they can be also be removed in a couple minutes

I’ve had a couple trucks with the Truxedo roll up style. I really like the look and how easy they work with the 5th wheel. They come out super easy for using the deck. Only complaint is that over time, the Velcro gets weak and the cover doesn’t hold down as well in high winds...

I am dealing with this now. Although when I bought it the seller told me Truxedo has a lifetime warranty on the top so I wonder if they would cover that?

I have the roll up cover for summer with 5th wheel, roll up when trailering. Remove for winter when deck goes in. Dosen't take long. I like the roll up cover for when traveling its nice to roll it back out when trailer is parked at campground and doing tours or hikes. Haven't had issues with velcro, yet

Is it the Velcro on the lid or is it on the rails if it is worn out and white on the rails , I think you can call them and get new Velcro strips not free but the guy I knew said it was priced ok , this was on a roll up truxedo cover

Only on the top pro15x is the warranty lifetime, as it is not vynal but more of a carriage top material.
I have on on my f150. looks amazing and is very functional, resists dirt better than a vynal one.

I have a marathon truck boss on in the winter and the Ford 4 panel flip hard cover. I use a gantry to pull the deck off in the spring and put the hard cover on. Works pretty good

The velcro on my vinyl truxedo cover was worn out, they sent me a new cover. I love my truxedo covers ( not running a deck. Yet...)

Tuxedo low pro, can leave the side rails on in winter and just take the rolled up cover off, Comes off in 30 seconds.

I use a Retrax cover in summer and swap out for my deck in winter. Takes about 5 mins to remove the cover. Remove it with rails attached. Put sled deck on tractor forks and lift it in with that by myself. 20 min swap.

Tries to remove my tonneau cover this fall and put my deck on but everything seems seized up that hold side rails. Scared of wrecking them so passed and probably sell cover with truck next spring. Cover has been on my last 3 trucks so do for a new style.

Sled Deck & Tonneau cover Swap

I have used a Extang solid fold on my GM’s and Ram’s. Very simple to remove which I use to keep loads secure or take off for loading the bikes or hauling material and take off for winter for the deck.

No side rails, no permanent fixture to mount. Easy on and off in less than 2 mins.

Never had an issue with the Extang solid folds.

Truxedo LoPro and take it off when I put the deck in. 3 clamps on each side to remove the rails. I think I'm on my 4th Truxedo now. My dad still has my original one and just replaced the velcro on it. Bought that one in about '03 or '04, IIRC. To me, the tri-fold ones are completely useless if you use your box for anything. Truxedo rolls up nice an compact and the tarp portion comes off with 2 clips at the front if you need to use the whole length of the box.
