Been truck shopping, ideally carry a deck, and tow a travel trailer.
How dirty and nasty do sleds really get on a deck?
Are decks truck box destroyers like I've heard mentioned by a few people?
Is Marlon the brand to buy?

How dirty does your windshield get on the highway? That's about how dirty your sled will get. My sled doesn't ride on the deck without a travel tarp. But its still far better than an open deck trailer.
Yes some decks can dent truck boxes, if the feet are too small and not secured correctly. Large feet or plywood feet under the deck and proper deck securement fix this though. I bolt my deck through the box with plywood under the feet and steel backing plates on the bottom, and then secure it with turnbuckles. It doesn't move.
As for brand I'm not sure anymore, I have a Mission deck that's about 7 years old, I've had 2 cracks in the rear feet, but nothing that 15 minutes with the AC Tig couldn't fix.

Make sure you do some math on payload ratings, running a deck with atv's or sleds on a deck and a travel trailer can put a lot of trucks overweight on the rear axle.

I put one on last year. Went with cross track
Sleds get a little grimy when the roads suck. The travel tarp helps keep them clean.

I pull it out during the summer. But haven't heard of decks causing damage to truck boxes.

I have had sled decks for years and have never caused any damage to my truck. Install is an important factor and my preference has always been to bolt it down. I have had a few different brands over the years and now have a limitless. It is the nicest deck I have used so far.
