Land Cruiser Cab and Chassis

I was driving on the freeway and pasted a flat deck.
There were 3 new Toyota cab and chassis trucks on it. They were left hand drive Land Cruisers.
Looked online and the only link I found was for Australia Toyota.
Unfortunately I was driving and couldn't take a photo. Anyone know more about Land Cruisers in Canada?

In the past they’ve been used underground in potash and other mines with upfitted specialty bodies on them. Diesel engined of course. My guess is they were headed for either an upfitter or a mine somewhere.

Makes sense. They looked like a heavier truck. 1 ton for sure. Do they sell the older ones or run them to the ground?
Haven't seen any on the roads.

Debeers had a bunch of them at the Victor mine in northern Ontario. They may as well have had no suspension. So stiff.

They’re imported as industrial equipment.....don’t meet the transport Canada regs for an on road vehicle safety or emissions wise...once they go underground they never come back up....once at the end of their lives they’re parked in a disused part of the mine and left to rot. A friend of mine back in the 90’s used to import land rovers for the same purpose and sell them to the mines until British leyland wouldn’t export them so the mines went to Toyota....

Underground ones are usially run until they aren't servicable as they are very expensive to buy. Last one we bought was over $170k. They are built like a 3 ton truck with a small 4 banger diesel and a 5 speed that is very low. Yes they ride rough, but they are very reliable. They can be outfitted as a flat deck, service body and personnel carrier with a cab all the way to the rear. We also use a pile of Kubota RTV1100's, diesel gators and some EV Rangers now. The Rangers don't standup nearly as well the kubota's.

I think we have a few in the yard right now that are pretty new - I'll see if I can get a few pics tomorrow
