That’s the way they save money.
Do you think that if there was a concern, Dodge would risk engine failures to simply save $100, plus the chance to go over your vehicle and sell you brakes, wipers, fluids, etc? Plus, they aren't saving a thing. It costs dealers money to not have you do more oil changes. You don't wear a tinfoil hat by any chance?

It’s 6 months , not a year under normal usage .
I laugh at Severe use ? It pretty much says everything is severe .
I will continue to change oil at 8500 kms with fully synthetic in my Dmax as oil is cheap .

I'm at 175k myself on my 16. Emissions crap is acting up right now, so I'm just waiting on the fix to come in the mail. Beyond that, no issues. I am aiming for 400k on it anyway.

I was hoping for the same out of my 11 Ram 3500, but let it go at 230k, had some weird electrical issues and was due for some more extensive work that I would've never got my money back from, pulled the trigger on a 2019 CCLB SRW Loaded lariat in blue jean metallic, 180L factory fuel tank was a big feature for me. I found the prices I was getting over the phone and email varied but then when its go time a lot of fee's and additional charges. Got a great deal from Ryan at Cold Lake ford.

I changed oil in my ram very 6k and fuel filters every 12K, fass lift pump with two spin ons that were less then 1/3 cost of the factory cartridge filter.

Pricing I'm seeing to trade a 1yr old Duramax w/ 40K on it is 11,000 plus taxes if truck to truck were the same price. The 2020 GM HD stuff went up fairly drastically and there's next to nothing for programs on them right now. So this depreciation hit that people talk about just isn't true. You have to buy it right in the first place.

Depreciation hit driving off the lot has been true forever with the numbers I showed you it cost me 4K a year for 6 years cost you 11k for 1. There is a somewhat more linear drop for a few years and km amount on vehicles before they nosedive again and no one wants them. I just look for the reasonable sweet spot as I can’t stand payments either. The guy at the dealer said cash deals are defiantly the oddity these days as stated before by others most peoples first question is how much a month. Salesman just licking his chops come on in sir we have a deal for you.

The 24k interval on the Cummins is nice the cost to change oil and both fuel filters is not, quirky lube $450-500.

Then again I know guys who are flipping diesels to the USA and they never change the oil because they only keep them 6-8 months some are up to 50,000km.

Oil change is $120, both fuel filters are about $170 and 30 mins to change, not a big deal.

Thats stupid and a big risk, if something happens no warranty to save a few bucks.

Holy fawk does it ever piss me off when I ask what the price is when shopping for a truck and all they bring me is a payment. I will walk out the door now if it happens.

Found out a number of years ago ,that you deal on financing items for the best pricing .
Once you have the number you’re happy with you can decide on paying for or not .
They aren’t happy though when you pay for it . Lol

Buy during the year-end, noncurrent models off the lot.
Target $20k off.
O km and full warranty.
Really closed the gap over buying used.

Or order what you want right at the tail end of orders for that year .
Comes in right before the new models and then let it sit on lot for a bit . Lol
Have done it a few times and works out well .

A few GM dealerships and our fleet manager at my old mid size oil company said to do this as well for the best price. Biggest thing is you ain’t stuck with crap you don’t want, like a moonroof or NAV, that stuff easily adds a few grand.
Not sure how the other brands work though, this was GM product.

How do you let something you ordered sit on the lot? Don’t you sign a contract before they order it?

You’ll get 20k off of a fiat, but not a GM or ford, unless it’s some god-awful mix of options and colour that they can’t sell.

Have never signed anything in my life .
Have ordered a lot of trucks as well .
At time of order you get any incentives at that time and if they get better they keep applying .

That's only looking at one part of the equation. I drive roughly 40K per year and get paid mileage by my employer (2/3rds of my mileage is work) I have next to nothing for maintenance costs involved if I only run that truck 1 year. The only thing I'm paying for out of pocket is a fuel filter change. GM covers the first 4 oil changes. If I keep it 6 years, I'm out of warranty halfway through year 2 on everything not powertrain and a year after that for powertrain. With the emissions junk on these things, I'm NOT keeping one that isn't on warranty. I'm not putting tires on it, I've got no chance of a big service bill if something craps out, etc. I've got equity in it and I'm not one of these people that are upside down in it. I make sure of that. I've ran older vehicles in the past and have been on both sides where it worked out and where I've gotten burned.

Using the numbers on the previous post you're quoting, I'm getting hit 15% for depreciation for 1 year. To me, that's pretty damn fair. Any less and there's no incentive for anyone to buy a 1 year old used truck from a dealer. As far as talking about cash deals, the cash programs are next to nothing on these vehicles and if you can finance at 1.99% like I am now, you're crazy not to.
