There are plenty of shops that will do what your looking for do a simple flash with a stock tune and exhaust and just unplug unnecessary sensors I would guess $1500-2000. If your off power train anyways do not give the dealer another cent for a fix that likely is not permanent. The emissions garbage is still in its infancy egr 2003 dpf 08 urea 11. The only issue with deleting is resale is limited to your home province as it isn’t passing an out of province inspection.

Urea came in '13 for the diesel rams just for the record. Along with the Ford style radius arm front end.

Yup, my VGT turbo lasted 232k and was still fine when I parted ways with my 11 cummins, deleted at 14k, that was the first button I would push every time I started the truck.
How annoying that would be to drive...

Why is that? Factory brakes lasted till 170K... Truck had a turbo back 4" with 30" muffler followed by a 12" flopro twister, not much drone and fairly quiet.

How annoying that would be to drive...

I fella with a Ford was on here a bit ago putting all the emissions back on as they wouldn’t take it south .
Will have to check into it .

Do you guys think having a diesel deleted affects resale value? Been contemplating deleting one but thought if no issues just leave it alone for sake of reselling as stock.

Keep the stock parts if you're worried. A deleted truck is going to have better longevity in my opinion. No exhaust getting recycled through the engine and turbo, and lower EGTs due to less restriction on the exhaust.

If running fine and no trouble I would leave it .
I sure didn’t mind my Dmax with it all intact . 2012
I deleted at 131000 as urea pump went but I didn’t get any better fuel economy.
I paid extra to get it taken out so it could go back in if needed . Not all chopped .
I kept power about the same as didn’t want Trans trouble or black smoke .
Only benefit I seen was oil cleaned up after two changes which is good .
Stinks now and before was next to nothing .

My buddy just sold his deleted 2012 ram 3500 to a broker, they tack a cat in it the pass visual at the border and rip it out when it gets to the dealer.

I got a “service DEF system” message on the dash yesterday.

2015 Ram with 106,000 km.
My 16 had that around 95k. It was the DEF injector. Replaced under warranty.

Flash forward 80k and I'm throwing NOx codes which is either an issue with the DPF or the NOx sensor. Time to delete now.

if you go back to another VGT turbo make sure you keep your engine brake on at all times. This will ensure the actuator is constantly cycling the blades in and out of the rotor which will help keep them moving freely. There is also the option of just going back to the old school but then a guy would want a compound setup lol. As for tuning, you do not require a “tuner” but you will require a tune. There are plenty of options around available for tunes that can be flashed for you so it is a set it and forget it setup. You can search Kijiji for EFI LIVE or check with any of your local diesel shops. Don’t even hesitate on the delete.... just do it! Did mine at 98 000 KM just so it could stop breathing it’s own farts and she LOVES me for it! As for the dpf you will recoup probably $200-$250 but most of the scrappers will want to know the part number that is stamped into the side of the filter.

That's the part I find odd, 99% of the time my EB was ran, it makes no sense that the actuator would be gummed up. I was considering non VGT but I can't loose my EB, it's too valuable and i'm always towing.

I've been lucky that way, absolutely zero emissions problems except for the actuator, but figure if i'm doing some work might as well delete it now that engine warranty is gone.

Funny this is actually true mine went south Fi a wholesaler but they gave me $2500 less because emissions were removed

If you exhaust brake is on all the time, every time you left off the throttle, it is going to activate slowing you down. You wouldn't find not being able to "coast" annoying?

You can put it on “auto” or “full”. Auto the exhaust break doesn’t come on unless you apply the brake peddle. That’s how I roll.

The answer is yes and no. Reliability goes up but some just like that stock babied feel.

I quite like it that way actually. Coupled with the manual transmission it is very enjoyable to drive. I feel I have far more control this way as well. Not very often I want to coast really. When I do I just pop out of gear.
