That title should get at least some attention.

I want to hear from the late model Ford guys, guys who wrench on Fords, guys who know everything about Fords. I don’t want to hear from the internet expert GM owners. Lol

Having gone from GM for a few HD trucks to Ram’s current model I can’t help but notice the new Ford offerings and honestly don’t know much about them.

I see they have a new 10 speed for 2020 HD’s, paired with the 1050ft pound torque which is already more than enough. I thought 800 was fine. What is Fords urea and regen system like? I know years ago it was noticeably hotter running during regen and had time restrictions on it.

Selling features I like the long box with the 190 litre fuel tank. That in-itself is worth the cost of upgrading to a small slip tank. They also have a new off-road package. The tremor. Dumb name but anyways factory 35’s, factory levelled, decent running boards, better shocks, sounds like something most guys do anyways. Only in the short box though. Speaking of short box it’s a 6 3/4’, that’s better than the less than 6’4 box you get in a Ram. Just dumb.

Love my Ram though. Would seem odd to go to a quieter diesel. Don’t you miss the clack clack clack? Lol trim levels has me wondering. My Ram is a Laramie sport. Ford equivalencies would be a Lariat? But then they have the king ranch which is the same as the longhorn. Not interested in broke back mountain crap. Of course the Platty in Ford but seems it’s full of chrome and no sport package in a Platty? I don’t wear flat brimmed hats anyways. And both trucks have a Limited package. Seems beyond what I want. I don’t want fancy towing and parking sensors or whatever else they come with.

What else is a selling feature for Ford? I just have never looked at them with any amount of interest other than seeing the new quad beam headlights and C halo front end coming at me they look pretty nice. They still resemble a square truck as well which maybe I am just more partial to.

Ok go

Cab on my 18 is so quiet the missus can’t tell if I’m parked with the engine off, or doing 130 when I’m on the hands free phone with her

My 18 is also amazingly quiet but I'm running a gasser. I've been a licensed Technician for over 32 years and have spent the last 19 of those years at dealerships (not Ford) and the first and most important thing I will say is this: Never purchase a first year releases of a vehicle or major components (ex: engine, transmission etc). This is the first year of this 10spd heavy duty transmission so give Ford a year to figure out the software and running quality before making the investment. Even though Ford claims to have millions of miles of testing this tranny, only everyday-real world service will tell the truth. I'm interested in the new7.3L gas engine they are releasing this year but I will wait at least a year for the bugs to be worked out. I love my 2018 F250, the ride quality for a 3/4 ton is great. Before we purchased our truck, we drove all thee brands and for us, we liked the Ford the best...personal opining.

That’s only 34” but sure I get what you are saying. The new off-road package is a true 35x12.5-18 Minor but still more than what the other guys offer and with that comes a decent width 9.5”rim over the stock 8” that every other model comes with so you can run true 35” without crowning your tire.

Yeah I am not into buying first year stuff but since it’s not a complete new model, just a tranny change it doesn’t concern me as much. Shifting algorithms can be adjusted with software updates.

That being said I was eyeing up a 19 holdover Lariat Sport with the 6 speed which is what started me down this path but then I am only getting basically a Ford version of my truck. Doesn’t give me as much reason to want to move into something new.

BTW, the short box (now called standard bed) length with the Superduty is now a 6'9". I forgot to answer that question for you. Another piece of advice, take the vehicle you are looking at and test drive it, a couple times if you have to. Drive it like you drive your current truck and see how it compares, you might not like it or you might love it.

I had a 17 now a 19 f350 king ranch. The Massaging seats and huge fuel tank are my favourite things. I can go to revy from Edmonton with a 30’ trailer and still have 250-350 km to empty when I get there depending on winds snow ect. Then it’s the power. Fuel economy, huge interior. Ride quality. Apple play. Cameras. Work lights on mirrors and tail gate. Under deck lights. Storage tray under the back seat works great. The new ford is sweet.

I have a 2011 superduty, so first year model, with 270000km. Done the front end a couple times from abuse bit other than that 1 def tank heater and my blower fan for tha cab. Good truck in my opinion. When this one dies I will get another one.

What I like is the locker for 4 x 4. Have used it on many occasions in spring and fall to get to snowline.
Had them all and love my 17 F350 lariat.
Never have chipped any of my diesels. I have a corvette for racing. LOL.
The 2017 I have, tows well and has tons of power for a stock truck.

I bought a 19' F350 Lariat longbox this past spring and love it so far. I've only had one warranty issue, which was the oil pan leaking. I came from a deleted 2012 Ram 3500 6.7 Cummins megacab and this Ford blows it out of the water. Its super comfy and quiet on the highway. I don't miss the noise/drone of the cummins (neither do my neighbours lol) The trucks are comparable for fuel economy from what I've seen. You do notice when its regenning but I've had zero problems with mine and I don't plan on deleting it. One thing I do notice is that if I'm pulling a trailer, the truck goes through the DEF a lot quicker. But the large fuel tank of the longbox is one of my favourite features. I just went to Valemount and back and still have just under 1/8th of a tank left.

Yeah the locker is nice. All of our work trucks are fords, though gassers and I use the locker often.

A C7 is on my wish list but I don’t think it’s in the budget even though they are blowing out the leftover Stingrays for $55k or less.

So far enjoying the 19 Ford. Super quiet, lots of power. comfortable. When I was looking there were no two trucks alike in terms of options. If you know what you want (and don't want) should be easy to find what you like. 2020 has some interesting upgrades to the engine: turbo supported on both sides, quicker spool up, less lag. Improved crank case venting, better injectors, better pistons and so on. Better headlights. I saw an interview where Ford said the new 10 speed is same one used in GM, and that GM just licences the name "Allison" to put on their trucks for marketing. Diesels sure have come a long way.

Last for 5 me all higher end optioned,

16 Ram 3500 srw sb had to 75000km
17,18,19 F350 srw lb had each to about 40k
now 17 Ram 3500 srw sb has 130k
on order 2020 F350 srw lb

Only one with shop time was 19 ford, had a short in engine wiring harness was down for 3 weeks.

Ford pluses: more power, ride nicer, long box fuel tanks were great 178L, larger def tank nice, quiet motor nice, better on snow and ice but we’re all Long wheel base trucks, ford leds are great, new rams I suspect are better too but not the 16-17. Ford burns less DEF. better under seat storage in the back, Ram has a sub under seat takes up most rom.
Ram pluses, nicer seats, better stereo, better mileage empty and towing by about 5%.

Both will pull a house, but I do like the Fords better.
